I have a 7 LIMS system, one of the lims is out of order and the ASU is faulty, i have a backup ASU and i want to use it. Whats the procedure to do so?

Which version of MX-One?
Do you have a config_mirror and/or safety backup?

Version 5
I just checked the replacing faulty hardware procedure in the library, i will try to apply it, but i don't have a safety backup. I am thinking about reinitialize main lim?

That's good.
My normal reaction is to read the manual before resorting to the Internet for help but I guess it is personal preference.

Now to your problem. Please do not do anything to LIM 1 (server 1).

When you install a system, as part of the process a config_mirror is made.
This stores relevant information about all other LIMs in the system on LIM 1 and is used in the repair_lim process.

If you mess up LIM 1 you will put the system in a situation which is not recoverable.

Follow the published procedure and you should be OK. Take note of the system admin section of the manual regarding system backup routines.

It is important to have a recent data_backup, config_mirror and safety backup all of which can be automatically scheduled with Linux crontab. It is also wise to have config_mirror back up on at least one other server (see the config_mirror command export switch for information) in case you ever need to repair LIM 1.

Good luck.
