Octel 250 connected to a NEC 2400 IMX using MCI-
The integration link comes up fine, however the lights stoped working abruptly. We went through this exact same scenario August '06 and after replacing the CCF card twice (first was a dude), it fixed the problem.

Now here we are again...Checked the I/O port on the 2400, the TDC monitor on the Octel shows the A2 and A6 packet leaving it to turn on/off the lights. Break-out box in the link shows no transmit from the Octel.

Have been on with tech support with Avaya in Calif @ $600. per hr., they insist its a cable problem, or it could be a backplane problem.

Could we have gotten 2 bad CCF cards??
Heard of anything like this, we are getting ready to buy a new system because of this.

Not quite the same problems(but maybe) - we faced recently with an Ericsson MD110 and an OCTEL Serenade 200.
The problem was solved by installing a good common ground cable between the PBX and the OCTEL message server.
Ealier we had the similiar problems with Nortel Meridian PBX and an OCTEL 300 message server.
Proper grounding solved both issues.
We installed a thick copper wire on the cabinet of the PBX and the other end of the cable was installed on the OCTEL message server. In addition ferrite cores were added to all lines between the PBX and the OCTEL mashine.
This solved the issues in both cases.
Best regards

One thing you can try is to change the async port you are using to see if it is the CCF card port.

I have seen this problem at many sites and it caused by a spike coming from the NEC MCI link and into the CCF card.

But if that is the case chaging the port and the menu 4 programing will fix it. If you need help let me know.

Thanks doktor and Ken.

Ken, have tried other async port on different refurbished CCF card- still nothing coming across the link from the Octel. If there was a spike from the pbx, could it have done something to the backplane?? The engineer at Avaya seems to think the problem could be at the backplane.

Thanks

It is possible but unlikely.

When you changed it what steps did you take to move the link?

It is easy to miss a step or 2 and I have never seen one that needed the backplane replaced.

In all my years working with OCTEL's and PBX we never swapped a back plane.
Maybe if your OCTEL or PBX have been struck by lightning or over voltage...

Ken and doktor,
I got another CCF card from another provider and installed it and it corrected the problem, we are now fully operatioanal, so it was the CCF card all the time.

Thanks for your responses.

Greg

Nice to hear your updated status on your problem.
(Wish that more people did that!)
Maybe you shoul check your grounding between the PBX and the OCTEL, also...
