I have an IP406V2 running at 4.2(4) and have just added a 400 DS V2 running at 7.0. Can I use V5 office to get them both up to date or should I downgrade the 400?

The reason for the upgrade is that the 5410 & 5420 phones do not show the extn no when connected to the module whereas they do on the 406! I assumed that was because the versions differed.

It is indeed.
The module is on release 5. something while the 406 is on 4.2.4
You have two option.
Downgrade the module to 3.2.999 and then to 4.2.4 or upgrade the 406 to 5.026 and the module to 3.2.999 and then to 5.0.26
