I'm sure I read in this forum how to minimize all open windows at the same time (to get to my desktop) yet I can't seem to find where.

I'm sure it was a CTRL Something that minimixed then maximized all open windows.

Can someone refresh this tired brain?

Oh I remember...

Hold down the Windows key (the one with the flag) and press M.

NOW is there a way to reverse that action??

Hold down the "Windows" key and press D

And...unless it's just my keyboard, you have to tap "D" twice...

Thanks very much that seems to work quite nicely.

I do see what you mean about the sleepy D key.
I just hit it a few times until it awoke.

Thanks again this saves a ton of time assisting someone who has many windows open.

If you use WindowsKey-M, then it requires that you use WindowsKey-D TWICE.

However, if you AVOID using WindowsKey-M, you can simply use WindowsKey-D as a "toggle", and you only have to hit it ONCE.

Hope this helps. :)

Hey Dale we must be on the same wavelenth (notice I didn't say skill level).

I just noticed myself that (using the D alone) seemed to toggle.

I was also reminded to click the "Show Desktop" icon on my taskbar to do the same.

Windowskey +"M" will minimize all your windows
Shift + windowskey + "M" will revert to the original state
see faq 68-3347

Thanks everyone for the ones I didn't know.

Tazman99 I can't seem to get the following to work:

WIN L: Lock Workstation (before you go to lunch)

I use Ctrl_Alt_Del then Enter.... to get my lunch.

While we're on the topic, here are two more that I would suggest are FAIRLY USEFUL...

When in different depths or levels of windows - such as Tek-Tips, it's FAR easier to go "Back" or "Forward" by using...

<ALT> <Left-Arrow> ...to go Back
<ALT> <Right-Arrow> ...to go Forward

Hi sdraper and mscallisto,

Do you have Win XP or Win 2000? Also, do you have WinXP Home edition or WinXP Professional edition? Are you in a networked enviroment?

Let me know,
tazman

Alt, double click, displays properties. On a selected item, Alt+Enter.

Win2k in a Network environment. That's probably why. Ctrl + Alt + Delete bring up the Novell dialog.
