I am trying to convince my boss that I can dump my laptop for a new ipaq. The only thing holding me up is configuring routers and switches while i'm on the road. Has anyone ever tried or seen a config done through an ipaq? Just a thought.

You get better life out of the laptop.. the ipaq is only good for roughly 1 to 1.5 hours on battery. Not good when trying to troubleshoot.

I cheat.. I recycled my old HP LX200 which runs for about 10 hours on battery and talks to routers just fine.

Thanks for the info. I'm just looking for something to setup nat pools and a few changes. Any troubleshooting will be done from a different location. Anyone ideas on using an IPAQ for this would be appreciated.

Although security-types would pretty much have a stroke from reading this, you could potentially turn on the http server function within Cisco's IOS. This would enable you to access the router via a basic GUI-type interface. I actually tested this scenario out a while back with both a Cisco wireless card and a wireless modem. You can punch a hole through your firewall for remote access. It works - trust me!
