We have a customer with an IP500 running 4.0 in a house.
They want to be able to have one of the analog sets in the house join a call already answered somewhere else in the house. They would like it to work just like a house without a PBX where the user just goes off hook and they join the line. Any help on this would be great.

Just to listen or to actually be part of it in confrence?

why do they have the system? that is a reason why poeple get a phone system, so they arent picking up each other all the time.

They would like to join the call like in a conference.
I would prefer if the steps to do this were minimal.

gnight1 the system is necessary for other features that they use such as intercom, multiple lines, separate voicemails and a few others.

you should just be able to use the call intrude, the only thing is you have to know what extension the other person is on.
create a shortcode... say you have extensions starting at 200

code *2N
feature Call Intrude
Number N

Dial * extension number of the person you want to join and there you go.

Call Intrude will work, I was hoping for a work around where they join the line without needing to know the ext. number of the person who answered the call.

I am pretty sure this is not possible, you are basically asking the phone system to act as phone system sometimes but then act as a split line others, there may be times when they don't want to join a call they want to make a call and there would be no way of doing this if it was set up as suggested this is probably why it's not supported!
