Hey guys, have a question regarding J179 phone on IP500v2. We are currently running release 10.1.5 - with all H.323 9611G's/9608G release 6.8.3. I got a new batch of J179 phones today, so first thing i did was change the J179 from SIP to H323, pointed it to my HTTP file server, and had it download the latest 46xxxsettings file, and the latest H323 6.8.3 software. After it was done, it came up normally just like our existing 96xx's and I logged in - everything is working perfectly.

My question is this - I was told that the J179 will not work at all with any IPO version lower that R11 in H323 or SIP. Is this true? When we upgrade to R11, will I need to change back from H323 to SIP? And will the J179 only work now on R10.1.5 in H323 mode or can I change to SIP now?

Thanks,

Unless using H.323? Again I have a perfectly working J179 using H323 6.8.3 / on IPO R10.1.5...

As of Decemember 5th, I believe that any J100 phones are no longer supported by Avaya in an H323 deployment. Not to mention, you get their intended functionality in a SIP deployment.

No - just a normal Avaya IP endpoint license. It does show up as a 9611G phone in manager, however.

J169/J179 with H323 software are supported on IPO 10.0 SP7, and IPO 10.1 SP3 and later. They are not supported with H323 software on IPO 11.

Keep in mind, if you're deploying JEM24's with the H323 J100's as a single module for 72 buttons, only the first page will have labels and BLFs, while the second and third pages won't. The buttons will be there, but their BLF's and labels will be blank.
