Is there something like BFS but no foward ability 1

Basically,

I want a clerk to see when a director is busy - but not have the ability to have his calls forwarded... the BFS, if pressed by the clerk means the director's calls all go to her - I only want her to see if he's on the line or not.

Is there something like BFS that will allow her to see when he's on the line without letting her forward his calls to her. I am sure I have come across a feature that will show when a DN is busy, and if you were to press the feature key it would call that person.

We are using 1120s and 1220s on a CS1000.

you could make an appearence of his DN as an SCN on her phone, if it is in use, she can see it, and not cut in on it.

But that also means that she could "accidently" tie up his line, or even use his line if he wasn't on the phone.

SCR/SCN and BFS are the only keys I know of for monitoring another set.

If all you want is an Visual indicator you could setup a contact switch to close and turn on a lamp on her desk. We looked at something like this for a remote gaurd shack for a night ringer. But your looking at about 200.00 to implement.

matthardwick - You can use the BFS keys without the call-forward capability.
In CDB RDR OPT change FKA to FKD.
Then the BFS keys give you status only.

What I should have said:
In CDB under FTR_DATA change BFS_CFW to NO.
That applies only to the BFS call forward functionality.

We don't have access to the overlay, our vendor hasn't signed over to us yet - how would I do this in TM?

Sorry - CDB can't be changed from TM. Maybe from Element Manager but you would likely be blocked by the same restriction. It's a simple change for the vendor though.

Sounds complicated - you sure this only applies to the phones I want it to apply to?? Does it get applied to the boss or the secretary?

BFS_CFW NO
All it does is turn off the forwarding capability of the BFS keys.
So you can still use the BFS keys to show the status of a phone but you can't activate call forwarding back to the secretary (or anyone else).
Just what you are looking for and simple to activate if you can get to LD 15. Since it is in the Customer Data Block then it is a customer-wide setting.

This still isn't as nice as what I had before.

I **KNOW** for a fact there is a feature, as I was using it to monitor when people in my team were on the phone.

However an outtage means we've lost it, and I can't remember what it was we did to set things up.

What is even more frustrating is, that even though the keys appear as NUL in TM (and presumably the overlay) - the keys on the phone still behave as if they have that behaviour, so I can still see when my collegues are busy.

What version of CS1000? Succession 3, 4?

Patches to fix this BFS function, but are PIPs not PEPs, meaning you have to pay for them:

OK untill I can trace what the heck is up with my random status feature keys (despite them being nulled!) I have got down the Ld 15 BFS_CFW NO route.

My vendor didn't know that feature was there, which seems odd considering they are a big Nortel vendor :S
