Just wanted to check in with you all if IP Office 7 0 (36) has any major software bugs associated with this load, The reason I ask is that I have a new customer who is experiencing several major issues with their system and just trying to prepare for my on site visit tomorrow. And thanks for your time on this.

When I've been to sites like that (pre maintenance acceptance survey)... it's nearly always them misunderstanding what the system can do and how it works or the issues are caused by them doing things how they think it should work not how they were shown to do things or a terrible network/cabling infrastructure or a mixture of them all and then throw in a lot of exaggeration and some pure fantasy :)

 
This is what has been reported to me thus far; (keep in mind that this is the customer reporting these issues)
Still experiencing great difficulty with calls being broken into by other calls, voicemail messages, and conference calls.
Outgoing calls are overriding current calls.
Voicemail is not picking up, Conferencing calls are dialing over other calls in use. Wow should be quite a visit, this install has a main site with a IP Office 500 v2 7 0 (36) with a voicemail pro on a windows server or pc connected across a vpn to another IP Office 500 v2 7 0 (36) using centralized voicemail from main site. Install was done in June 2011 and problems just started happening within the past two weeks, NOTE; these issues do not happen constantly but only occasionally. amriddle thanks for your reply thus far. I will be onsite tomorrow to test trunks look into the config etc.... and will turn on a monitor trace as well as well as educate this customer to keep a detailed log going forward. Thoughts anyone and thanks so much for you time! ps voicemail has 6 to 8 ports will confirm tomorrow.

My experience is R7.0.36 is a pretty solid release. I have not personally experienced issues with it. If it is centralized vm, are they also dialing out over the VPN or does each site have their own service? Could be issues with the network and something being updated which is now blocking traffic.

Either that or the Conf chip is faulty, much of what's reported could be attributed to a dodgy conf chip, especially if they record calls. I would take a spare chassis just in case :)

As you say this is a new customer but they are on V7.0 I assume you have recently inherited maintenance
in which case I would take the claims that it has only just started with a large pinch of salt.

from the description of the issues i would say it is most likely a hardware issue.
one other fault is do they have line appearance keys if so are users just blindly selecting lines that are already in use?

See faq940-7663 for the correct way to use line appearance keys :)


A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
 
Well just got back from site visit and looks like amriddle01 called it, they were clueless on how to use the phone system which was causing 90% of their issues, tweaked programming on auto attd as option were programmed incorrectly, I suspect after tech installed the new phone system he left without providing any end user training, I spent most of my time training them on how to use the features of the phone system, all is well and thanks so much for the helpful suggestions.
