HI All,

Forgive me if I have failed to find a post about this already... Basically we have a feature key dongle (usb) that has been slightly damaged. It continues to operate..but we are worried that it will fail due to there being physical damage to it.

Our maintenance contract has expired and our sales partner is out of business.

We have a IPOffice 412 and I have backed up the config and exported licenses to a excel based csv file.

Can anyone guide me to someone that can help me obtain a replacement? Avaya wont help because we dont have a maint plan in place. Thanks...

You need to find an Avaya BP, they will arrange a dongle swap for you, you get a new dongle the licences are transferred to that and then they send the old one back (or you get charged for all licences).

If you post where you are someone here may be able to help :)

Got that part....THANKS.
Now then...can you recommend a reputable/fast business partner in the Northeast US? - We are in NYC.

Thanks,

Any AVAYA Business Partner can do a dongle swap for you. The licenses you have currently match the existing USP Dongle that you have. You would need to have another set of licenses issued for the new dongle and have the old dongle shipped back to AVAYA. My distributor makes sure that I have the dongle back in their hands within 10 days after the swap. Quite honestly, it may be worth some time to swap out the old 412 with a 500V2 processor and move your licenses over to the SD Card instead. That way you wont have to worry about a damaged dongle ever again.

We are looking into upgrading to a 500v2 - just have not found a good source to work with.... Thanks for the info @jinxs...

BTW, ask for a Serial dongle, those attach directly to the back of the system and will not go missing or get damaged :)

Be aware if going to a V2 that min it will run is R6, lots may have changed depending on what you are used to, some for the better some for the worse, mainly involving IP phones and the licencing, that can cost $$$'s :)

We are already on R6.1 i believe...software wise.

@amriddle01 or @jinxs - are you guys bp's and would you consider working with us?

The only BP that I know in the Northeast area is NACR. Their corporate is out of NMN, but I've dealt with their NJ/NY people a bit. Worth a shot.

if you are swapping the dongle on an IP412 I would recommend you swap it for an rs232 one instead (Screws to the DTE port, no need for a ketyserver PC & No danger of someone 'borrowing' a memory stick)

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Thanks @kwing112000 - please let me know how I can contact you directly. ??

send me an email at kwing at carouselindustries dot com. we cant post email here but pretty sure you get the jist... i will hook you up with a sales rep.

Just for you info, all the older style dongles are getting very rare. I did a swap in January of 2011 and the distributor was almost out of the serial dongles. At that point it worked out for us to go to the IP500V2, but We had to pay for SCN licensing again because that was a hardware feature of the 412 and not of the 500V2.

That is because they are end of sale for a while already.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!
