Hey everyone, here is the situation. We are trying to set up a vpn remote phone, and we have used the settings on the netgear fvs318 that we have seen on these boards. When we enable the policy, every device connected in the ports of the vpn router lose internet. Also on the phone when it boots and tries to connect we are seeing IKE Phase1 no response. If anyone could help us out with this, it would be very much appreciated.

I only have one advise.

Do not use a 318 for this

Get yourself a 336v2 which works very well.

I have been trying to tell my partner that we needed to use a different vpn router for this application, but he because one of our suppliers suggested this one, he thinks it is just something I am doing wrong setting up the vpn tunnel. I spent 10 hours yesterday going over settings and everything, trying to find anything at all that could be the issue. He so badly wants this up and running, to be able to use it 2 fold, one for use of a remote office, and the other to demo to customers, the ability to have remote vpn phones. I looked to see if there was anywhere locally that carried the 336v2 so that I could run and pick it up to get this going today, but couldnt find anywhere. Do you have any suggestions for a different vpn router that could possibly be picked up at a local store that would work?

I have spend 3 days on it.
I managed to get a phone running but it rebooted once in a while.
It is not supported and never will be.
After i got a 336Gv2 it was up and running in 10 minutes.

I echo what Peter is saying. My entire month of December was spent of four jobs where the FVS/X line from Netgear was used fro VPN phones. Get an ASA from Cisco.

I completely agree with everyone else. I have been using the FVS338 for Remote VO setups for the last couple years and it has been nothing but problems. The phones will reboot randomly and everytime it does that it creates another tunnel connection which eventually the router will lock up and reach its limit. Also, sometimes it will say IKE phase1 no response for no reason. I remember changing the passwords on the router and phone and then that makes it work, even though the phone would have been working for weeks before. Get an ASA, I have had 0 problems since I switched over.

4vayaMan, that is a timer issue.
The doc is not clear on this.
It says 3600 seconds but it must be 43200

I had changed that thing to some really high number, did it have to be exactly 43200 or would have 98000 have worked? If I even unplugged that phone everytime I reconnected it creates another tunnel and keeps the previous showing it up and running. If you disconnect the previous connection it disconnects all the connections associated with that phone. Rebooting the router was the only thing I knew to fix that. I had tried both the setups that I saw in tektip 184 but could never stop those darn connections from creating.

I never tried a different number then 43200.
I have had two 9600 vpn phones next to me which rebooted.
After changing the timer it kept up for at least 4 hours (called each other)

I wanted to say thank you to everyone that replied on here. We ordered the 338 and it took no more then a few minutes and was up and running. I would of replied sooner, but with the holidays and all, I was tied up, but again thank you.

Are they still out there?
The 338 is EOS and is replaced by the 336Gv2
But good that it works.

We had actually ordered a 338 and a 336Gv2, the 336 was defective upon receipt. So, it has been sent back and we are using the 338. When another 336Gv2 comes in, we will just set aside to use for a customer.
