most likely as soon as the official release is here.
Don't be impatient, there is lots of info already on the Avaya portal including power point presentations about the new licensing and more.

I am the same way though, I tried to get into the field trial but after sending the application twice and did not hear back I said that I can wait if need be, I read the mammoth thread about the R5 and soak up all info there is to not be overwhelmed when it finally is R5 time but that is just not the real deal.

it looks the same.

One-x is pretty good.

I REALLY like the new contactstore. much better than the old one in my opinion.

SIP endpoints sound very good. I tested one and AMRiddle did too, it sounded fantastic on the local LAN, much better than a typical softphone. Andy got his working at home too, i will have to press him for the details to see if it sounds as good remotely.

Not long to wait now fellas!

hey Tom thanks for that, I will now not sleep all night long and imagining things how the new stuff looks like, lol.
I know that you guys tried the 3CX SIP phone and I am using the same thing for my SIP line but it is the fact that I still have to wait for the new stuff and read about it without being able to play that drives me insane. Maybe I should just go and have a coffee instead of reading the R5 threads )

the only problem i had with the 3CX was that i couldnt get it to transfer. although its just occured to me that i kept trying with the GUI and i didnt try shortcodes.

The 3CX sounded the same with NATing from outside to in as it did straight on the LAN.....pretty damn good, I recorded a conversation with it too and that was as clear as a bell also. It as however hit and miss with the X-lite softphone getting one way audio on outgoing calls both internally and externally using the same PC and user as 3CX which was fine. Don't get too excited Westi the first R5 will be a little buggy, they are working with over 400 reported issues so far (some are repeated issues and some CCR though) :)

can't be worse then 4.0 is my guess
I used the x-lite too and you are right it didn't work to well for me either, lots of bad connections for me when I tested it. the 3CX has also a free SIP phone system on the market that I want to try out but have not had the time to really sit down and get into it yet.
I am still working on my boss to actually get a Win2003 server to finally get hands on experience with the CCR because we have not sold any yet. Cheap S@#(*^&tch

the 4.2 matrix is still there
but no sign of the 5.0
Our distributor is having a tech transfer online next week to explain in detail all the licensing and what is included in al the funky new licenses and packages then I guess the matrix can't be far off any more.

Not ready yet. To be honest by the time the thing is ready it will likely be time for R6!!!
