Hey everybody. I was just wondering if anybody has had any issues with 4.2(11) yet. I want to use it on a new IP500 unit but I will wait if it has any bugs. any thoughts?

We have found the quality of IP voice not very good. If we downgrade to 4.2.4xxx it is great.

If you want to wait for a release without bugs you cab wait a long time....
use 4.2.11

The only thing I have found in 4.2.11 is the copy and pasting of items is different and I don't like the way it works now. When you paste, you are not automatically ready to enter info on the new item, you are dstill on the old item so you then have to click on the new item to start.

While we are on the subject, they people who write the software should do the following:

1) Add voicemail reception, login code and abbreviated ring to user rights

2) Add keystrokes to allow you to move to the next user when you are range programming items, like voicemail reception.

3)A default Voicemail reception for the entire system in the telephony tab like no answer interval

4)Allow the changing of line group associations on line to be mergable. (It actually is but not officially.)

5) Allow manager to tell you if there is an IP conflice like Windows does.

6)Allow you to import more that what they let you do now in Users (voicemail reception, login code, abbreviated ring ext, display name.)

7) change the default await dialtone in the US to 1000 ms at most.

8)SHOW THE FLIPPIN' VM PASSWORDS...

9) Chill beer

Thank you.

I agree 100% with Stone. Having to put Voicemail Reception in 200 users is a joke.

you can read out the vm password, ok not quite as convenient as just showing it but it is possible with a revealer software like "snadboy revelation"

If you can't be good, be good at it!

Why should I have to do that? Just show me the password and save us all some time!

Snadboy doen't work on 4.2, but others do!

It works for voicemail passwords :)

That is what you get your money for so i do not understand it really

The ipoffice is not that hard to program
Try a different system where you have to define everthing instead of that the ipo does it for you

? I didn't say it was. Why do Avaya people take such offence to criticism of the product. I only want it to be better. And anything that saves me time, even in seconds, in configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining an IPO is worth it.

I guess when you dial into dozens of systems a day you get like that.

try to program a system that has no display and you have to punch all codes (all 320 of them) into the system with 4 digit codes and 2 digit values and no way to read it out. I think we are getting spoiled a bit with the IPO but I also think that it would be nice of Avaya to actually make it even nicer and that would then be another good selling point for the customers, as we all know customers want easy.

there is nothing wrong with making improvements to the software that the programmers have to use. Avaya should be surveying us for feedback every time they make enhancements to it.

Some things can not be done easely

You can not get an option "reserve last CA" in the user rights

Not because it is not possible but because it needs a big major reporgramming of the software

With importing you can set a lot like email adres for voicemail to email but not the password

I understand your frustration but some things need to be done manualy

I also would like to see some changes in the importing options like the full name instead of only the system name

Notsetinstone: Not all Avaya people take offense. What you wrote is accurate and should be changed. I'm sure Avaya will take note, since what you ask is completely reasonable and easily do-able. Except for the beer thing - the brits don't like cold beer.

PS: I rarely post anymore because there's some awfully cranky techs out there.

What? too much cold beer, okay runalong, you don't need to raise your hand if you need to go for a pee.

the only thing i have taken offence to is the idea thats brits don like cold beer?!? WTF!

Notsetinstone, some nice thoughts in there fella, there certainly are some functions i would love to see appear in user rights, but not knowing how things are done on the back end, i wouldnt know how simple these changes are to make
