IPO clears Embedded VM to Email password on its own 1

IP500 R9.0.10.998 using Embedded VM to email. Password for Authentication for SMTP clears on its own. Any idea why? Of course VM to Email stops until we input the password again and reboot. Office's sister site has the same set up but doesn't have the problem. This happens at least once a week to 2 weeks.
any suggestions...
ps. can't upgrade do to Legacy equipment.

If there someone else on site that makes basic changes?

If so make sure they always close manager after working on the system & DO NOT LEAVE A CFG OPEN.

You can upgrade to the latest R9.0 though. I would do that.

We have had this problem for a while and had already upgraded them to this release to fix. Nothing. I believe that this is the highest R9.0 as well. Came out in March '16. That didn't help either.

if this were a software bug I would have expected to have seen it posted here a number of times by now
