I’m looking for a cordless phone that’ll work with our Avaya IP500 V2 system. The IP500 has firmware version 9.0. The only use for this cordless phone is to allow our shipping department mobility to answer incoming calls from our truck gate. When a freight truck drives up to our gate there is a page button outside the gate. When the driver pushes this button it calls a 4 digit extension number which is the shipping manager’s desk phone. Currently someone has to stay at this phone during normal working hours. When he receives a call from the gate the driver will indentify what they’re delivering and then the shipping manager will push the number “9” on the phone and the gate will open. I would like to have a long range cordless phone that he can use just for this purpose. There are no other functions needed. We can route only the gate calls to this phone. The shipping manager would continue to use his desk phone for all other calls. It would be nice if we could use our current wireless access points around the facility in order to give him full range within the facility, if it’s cost effective.

I've looked into the Avaya 3645, but it requires a very expensive voice priority processor.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Look at the Engenius cordless phones - they'll use an analog station port and should fulfill the need. They're on the expensive side when compared to a consumer-grade phone - but the range is tremendous.

We've used/tested/installed the Engenius cordless phones and their reception/range is remarkable. If cost is not too much of a factor, especially for the quality and range you get, Engenius all the way, otherwise any normal cordless phone should work.

Thanks Mike. I was just looking at the Durafon 1X on their website. Reading their spill it seems to be perfect for our application. The online prices I've seen is a lot better than our other options. It's worth a little more being a more durable phone in a warehouse environment. Thanks for your help.
