IP500 to second phone system via PRI?

I have an IP500 running 8.0(18) We currently take a PRI and via an incredibly complicated sequence take a block of 1000 numbers and forward them to a huntgroup that rings analog extensions, that are hooked to a channel bank and that channel bank provides a pri interface to a 2nd phone system. This is required because the 2nd phone system needs to pull account numbers based off DTMF tones (or call in number pulled from call record setup)

I would like to replace that whole BS with a second PRI out of the IP500 directly into the second phone system. However last time I tried this (3 years ago) I was able to get the PRI's to sync up however the IP500 didn't forward the caller id info with the call in number so I wasn't able to extract an account number.

Anyone doing anything similar?

Thanks I just read thru that thread.
Would this also work with Sip to Pri? That would be best case :)

Hmmm... SIP to PRI? There would need to be a gateway between the two somehow - making it more of a challenge. PRI-to-PRI or SIP-to-SIP would be cleanest.

I'm just thinking if I can take a phone call into the IP500 from a PRI and forward it back out of the IP500 via a shortcode...
then why can't I take a phone call into the ip500 via a sip trunk and forward it out of the ip500 via a PRI?

Does anyone have a lab where then can test this?
I just need the call in number to survive :)

You can do that, I have done it wih a Mitel 5000 recently, it can dial extns or straight out the IP Office PRI :)

If I send it out of the IPoffice via a PRI I need the Call in Number to survive from the original SIP call, I need it to be a transparent forward... any idea if that works?

That would be possible but depends on the other system and if that passes it through correctly and obviously the provider would need to allow it, but I have not specifically tried it :)

So Just to be sure,
If someone calls 207-123-4567, when the call hits the IP500 via PRI and is transfered out via a shortcode to another PRI the other PBX will see 207-123-4567 as the called number, this is tested working?

In this situation, I would want to test and prove this kind of this in house myself.

Get a couple of kits setup and an ISDN tester and give it a go.

Time to try it yourself!!!!

Of course that would work. You are sending the dnis (dialled number string) down the pipe. Whatever is on the other end will receive and be able to route as per ddi

I see no reason why you couldn't create a short code as follows then point your incoming call routes to it.

?
Dial
.
Line ID of your outbound PRI

Indeed, the system will send whatever you tell it, it will work but you may want to test first just in case you need to tweak the shortcodes :)

Great thanks for all the responses, Last time I tried this we were running V4.x, CallerID did NOT pass and Avaya told us that it didn't work that way.

Things have changed alot since that time so I reckon I'll give it another go :)

Funny, I just tried the pass caller ID thing today, called into the IP Office on a DDI and pushed the call out to a Mitel 5000 via a SIP trunk and it passed the original caller ID no problem, no extra config required, I see no reason why PRI would be any different :)

amriddle01:
can you tell me what short code you used?
I just tried this today and neither the Called number or the caller ID made it thru
Here is a quick summary:

Calls comes in via SIP on Line group ID 6
The incoming number is matched
destination is set to *55
short code *55
Dial
.
Line group 3 (PRI to other equipment has an outgoing group of 3)

Several people said this should have worked, i'm sure I just had something wrong.
Anybody that is currently doing this or has done it in the past, can you spot an error in my progrzmming?
