Hi All,

I have an Avaya IP500 here in London that is linked to our US office. Our extension range is 4xx, our US office use 1xx and 3xx.

What I'd like to do is be able to call a DDI (I have a spare DDI that doesn't have an extension/user) and have an auto attendant answer and say something like "Dial the extension now". What I'd like then is to be able to dial a US extension (1xx or 3xx) and have the call transferred to that extension.

I can do this using UK extensions (4xx) and it works just fine, but I get a recording "That Destination is Unavailable".

There is a shortcode set up to dial any 1xx or 3xx numbers on Line Group 2. local extensions are on Line Group 0, I think.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
Neill.

Are you using embedded or vmpro? If it's embedded (not supported on an SCN by the way), then it will not work, as they won't be on the same voicemail system anyway.
If you want to do dial by extension, then it should be fine.

I am using embedded. VMPro way too pricey!

I tried dial by extension, but it forces me to select a 'local' extension. Is there a way to create a virtual extension and route that to the US extension?

Thanks,
N.

You know that embedded is not supported, right? From a dial by name directory, it picks up from the *local* voicemail to find matches. I don't think you're going to get it to work.

Dialing by extension you may be able to get to work with shortcodes.

Neither will work, it will not match shortcodes as then it be open to toll fraud, only possible with VM Pro :)

Darn.

The cost of VMPro, incl installation quoted to me in £3800.. seems ridiculously high - does that sound right to you?

N.

That is high, well for 4 ports it is anyway, did they quote for more than 4 ports? :)

Intrigant, no, our US office use Audix.

Amriddle01, I believe it is 4 port, yes.

Neil - we are a maintainer and installer in Surrey.

We can help you with support and supply if you like?

Thanks Hairlesssupportmonkey. I have a maintainer already - their solution is the £3800 VMPro - I was hoping someone else had a clever solution.

the solution is to ask them not to charge you as much.

is it a "real" server they quoted for 4 ports of Vm not important, a Win7 or WinXp even will work that should bring your price down quite a bit.

you could try and build the entire dial string
AA - option 4 - another AutoAtt (no greeting)- option 1 - another AA (no greeting -
option 1 goes to 411
option2 goes to 412

but you only have 40 AA to play with and I would try it with 1 extension if it works

I managed to solve this.

I had to create a virtual extension for each US extension (using their same extension number) then set up Unconditional Forwarding to a chortcode (60xxx) for each number, so ext 123 forwarded to 60123.

I could then use the AA DialByNumber feature.

Works well, and because it is restricted to extensions set up, there should be no toll fraud.

Thanks all for the help!

N.

For just a couple extensions this will work but with a lot of extension this is a hell of a job.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks amriddle01.

tlpeter, it was a bit time consuming to set up 78 additional extensions. Glad I don't have to do it again, though!

I assumed you had an SCN setup, do you not? Is it just digit dialing across a T1 or similar? The IPO will bark about duplicate users if you're using the same names across both sides. If you're not, well, ingenious idea.
