Hello all,

I have a home network with a IP Office, what i want to do, is to plug in my laptop everywhere on the internet, Connect to my VPN network, and Call :)

What the problem is, I CAN connect to my VPN, and i can ping to the IP Office, but my Phone doesnt want to work :(

What i did; I enabled ICS (internet connection sharing) on the VPN so other connections will go trough there, I assigned my LAN connection to it. It configured automatic with static IP.

What i did for testing is to connect a second computer to my LAN port (on laptop) and it connected, (i can ping the PC from Laptop and from PC to Laptop works fine)

Only i CANNOT ping any other devices in the VPN network..... while ICS is on :S

What can i do so this will work, and my IP4602 will work too?

In the Advanced section of the Netwoking properties for the VPN connection is there a box called "Use default gateway on remote network" if so tick it :)

You may need to set the IP address of the VPN connection on your laptop as the default gateway on the second laptop(for testing) and in the handset for use :)

Thanks for reaction, I tried using the IP of my laptop (VPN) on the testcomputer, but that didnt work....

Im searching for the Use default gateway on remote network box, but cant find it, Its Vista :S

Microsoft keeps changing everything in next version of windows :(

I know it's definitely there on vista with dial-up connections (ISDN) not sure with VPN connections it was just a stab in the dark :) If you get a 4610 and a vpn phone licence you can do it that way !!

If you can hold on for R5, you can load 3CX SIP softphone (free) on your laptop then you just port forward SIP traffic from your external IP at work to the IP Ofice. That's what I have at the minute, it works great, the voice quality is very good indeed :)

What you mean with R5?? Anyway, I have the softphone installed, and i use Extenstion 1201, and Password 1201 (but what to fill in at ID???)

Release 5 of the IP office firmware, I imagine you are on 4.2.X at the moment, you will not get it too work yet as 4.2 doesn't support SIP endpoints onyl R5 which is due for general release late summer I believe.

Ah ok, well i would like to have it ASAP, as i need it for the commin weeks..... any other options? (without buying new phones or other licenses??)

Somehow i managed that i CAN internet on the testlaptop now,.... although my Wifi NIC isnt Shared (VPN is connected to a network wich has Internet!!)

But i can only ping to my laptop and not to my server / router or other PCs in the VPN network :S

The problem is you are using a sostware VPN connectio which I don't think internet connection sharing passes all the required ports through. You really need a hardware VPN (router) at your remote site for this to work, either that or a Phone manager Pro and IP audio enabled licence but neither solution is cheap never mind free :)
