IP400 V2 Expansion Module or IP500 V2 Expansion Module

Can someone please tell me if there is a reason why someone shouldn't purchase and install the IP400 digital station 30 expansion module rather than the IP500 module that does the same thing? The same question goes for the analog trunk and phone modules. Is the only reason to buy the IP500 units just so the color on the outside match the IP500 V2 Carrier?
So far as I can see, the units (V2) all work with the IP500 V2 Carrier. Is this not the case?
I can't see why someone would go with a more expensive one for no reason.
If there is a technical reason, could someone please help me out? Thank You

The older coloured ones are out of warranty and probably refurbished, new ones are neither. Due to the cost of them I imagine people buy new because of this and they are naturally further from their natural failure point than ones manufactured years earlier. If you don't care about this then yes, they all work equally well
