Hello.
I have a customer with 2 IP406v2 in 2 sites with version 3.2.17 connected with SCN.
He would like to upgrade to 4.0.5 version but i don't know if he has to pay for the Professional Upgrade license and the Advanced Networking Licenses for SCN and IP Trunks in order for the SCN and the 2 ip trunks to work.
I also read in the forum that H.323 ip trunks do not work as good as they work in v.3.2.

Please help me because if we upgrade and the SCN doesn't work, our customer would be VERY VERY annoyed.

Thank you very much.

Correction : Voice Netwroking Licenses instead of Advanced Networking Licenses.

Pro upgrade and Voice Networking licenses are only for IP500

If he will be annoyed if if something doesn't work in 4.0 you shouldn't upgrade the system yet. If he wants to upgrade because of new features he should be aware of the risk with new GA releases.

I won't install 4.0 on any system yet unless I have to or the customer takes the decision to go that way.

I would upgrade the system to 3.2 54 though.

Thank you for your response.
Janni78,thank you for your advice but customer has VoiceMail Embedded on both sites and he wants to have the multiple menus, a feature not possible on 3.2.XX .H ealso would like to test the Sip Trunking feature in order to lower his communication costs.

There has been reports on problems with H.323 trunks on the 4.0 release so you should probably make the customer aware of the risk using new "untested" releases so he don't blame you if something is broken. :)

i can confirm this

You can have multiple menus with embedded voicemail on 3.x. Create additional auto attendants, each representing a different sub menus, and when you want to go to a sub menu, let's say for example to auto attendant called ATT5, transfer the call to "AA:ATT5".

There are some limitations:
1. On each menu you can use only 12 options.
2. You cannot implement direct dial to extension or dial by name.
3. Recording is annoying, each AA will need its own shortcode for recording.
4. Each change requires a reboot. You can try a merge, but it doesn't always work.
5. I tried this one on an SOE, it didn't want to transfer to AA's with names that have a space in them.
