Hi there i recently bought a ip phone 5224 to a new provider of mitel on my region ,the problem is that this person never ask me what version of release i have on my ICP sx 200 and i never thought that this info was primordial to take the decision of what kind of telephone acquire.
Later when i read the description sheet i saw that the minum realase to use this kind of phone on a sx 200 is the realase 3.0 and i have realase 1.0 ....I Have also a 3300 but the realase is the 4.1 and for this phone on a 3300 icp it must have at least 6.1
now im stock ....my provider tell me that the 5220 was substitute by 5224 and the 5220 model is not longer on production.

what can i do ?its any way to make the phone work without upgrade the realase
tanx in advanz.

I'm afraid you are stuck.

Either upgrade the SX200ICP to rls 3.1 or upgrade the 3300 to 6.1 or higher (7.1 recommended). There is no other way.

Both systems are running very old software and do need to be upgraded. There have been many-many improvements in the newer loads.

release 4 is out on the 200ICP and I am going to upgrade one of my sites to that tomorrow, any issues with that Mitelinmyblood

I've not even taken the test on it yet, so I don't have it running anywhere yet either. All my 200ICP sites are remote locations out in the dingy weeds, nothing very nearby. Nearest is about 70 miles

tnax for the answer mitelinmyblood,i´ve already talk to my provider and let him know the situation ,he offers me a 5220 ipphone ,this ip phone is supported by my release if im not wrong but it seems that bad luck follow me ,Yesterday he brings the phone and connected to the network and the phone only display the error L2&boot download error ...this error appear also on the 5224 at the first time i connected , before i know its was incompatible .....any idea or suggestion is well received.
Tanx again

You need to have a firmware image for this model. Normally software upgrade places images for all the supported models on the internal tftp server

tanx slapin i have 2 phones working on my network and are same model ..5220..i guess i have the image on my server ....its other way to do it manual?
how can i check what port is using for the tftp ? is the default ? port 69 i guess....

There is 5220 Dual Mode and 5220 Dark Grey phone. The software images are different.

There is a white sticker on the back of the phone. One would say 5220 Dual Mode and other would be 5220 Dark Gray

Plastic case is the same but firmware and hardware is different

i already checked and both phones r dark gray version.... the model of the phone that my provider offers to me is a dual mode
.what can i do to make it work?
is other way to put the flash ?
where i can get the flash for that version of ip phone ? and how can upload this image to my icp server?

Tanx again

Your vendor can pool this image from one of the production systems. It could be extracted from a software installation. The good idea would be to match the version of the system software and the phone firmware. I can send the file but most likely it will have some issues because I run 3300 V7.0 system software.

any one have the correct image version for 5220 dual mode running over realese 1.0 on SX200 server

tanx a lot slapin , i really appreciate what u do, no words to thank u , but if is'nt too much abuse from u ,would you tell me how to upload these files to my server ?where i have to put them ?
Any doc or guide will be helpful....im doing these all by my self cause search my provider is some kind of difficulty

Use any FTP client and make a connection to your ICP. User name system (or with equal access rights), password you should know. it should open /sysro directory. Change directory to /sysro/tftp. upload files and you good to go. Restart your phone.

Tanx slapin ill do right now ,in a few moments tell you what happen

hi there here with some news ,the files work perfectly the phone download the files immediately as i connect it ..(TANX slapin) But now i have another prob it ask me for a pin number ....i 've read and its refers some times to a number extension assignated to an user, i have already program an extension with the number and description but when i insert the ext number that is 152 it simply doesnt work... it ask again for the pin .
Im more closer than at the begin

Tanx Again

Open config for this extension and delete MAC address. Then enter a registration code and the exstension then hit a "Superkey". Usualy the registartion code is "***". Another way is to enter a MAC address of the new phone directly to the config.
