Hello All,

My IP Office 500 v2 running 8.1 has been acting up recently.

Our first trunk was non functional for a few hours, after a reset, everything works... just the lamps are flashing red/green. Should I be concerned about this? The manual States that "Red Flash every 5 seconds = Card okay" (what ever that means) and "Green on = Line connected to the port but idle".(The lines should be Idle, so it should be green, right?) I remember that all lights were initially green/green flashing after our installation.

Here are the symptoms:

In the unit there is a IP 500 VCM32 Card, Analog Trunk Daughter Card, and an Analog Station Card 2.

The VCM 32 with the Analog Trunk Daughter Card...

Has LED 1 is flashing green and momentarily goes to red then green, similarly the LED 9 for the first analog port is flashing green and momentarily goes red then green again. Led 10 is solid green.

The Analog Station Card 2...

The first lamp, LED 1, is flashing red about once every 5 seconds...

Thanks for the input!

The flashing red is normal

What has been acting up besides that ?

Thanks phoneguy610, I am just concerned as the green/red LED 9 was corresponded to the trunk that failed this week.

I just didn't remember any red light flashing when I installed the system. The branch office people were freaking out because of that.

Thanks again!

Yea it's fun , every customer that calls with issues starts with "it's flashing red"

Red flash is a watchdog heartbeat & perfectly normal
Green on a trunk means circuit live, Flashing means (at least 1 ) all in progress.

Trunk Issues are nearly always a line provider issue.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Plus it's amber not red, it just looks red in contrast to the green it flashes against, reboot the system then you will see a true red light on the card :)

it is indeed not red.
You will see the difference when it is red.
Flashing green means that the trunk is in use.
Flashing green on the vcm means there are channels in use.
1 is up to 25%
2 is up to 50%
Etc
Etc

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Indeed, it's 0 - 25% though as it flashes as soon as powered up, even with nothing connected :)

Or is it solid....we digress, ignore the flashing it has done it since it went in, before you had issues, this will be the trunks :)
