Hello, can I upgrade from 7.0 to the latest 9.XX straight? Or I have to upgrade to 8.XX first?
I've got a 9.0 upgrade license already.
Can I just load the 9.0 upgrade license and go from 7.0 to 9 directly?
Thanks!

I found out that 7.0 to 8.0 is required, prior to 9.0
but it does not mention if a 8.0 is also required.. any ideas?

You can.
You need to be at 7.0 or 8.0 to go to 9.0

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Is this a trick question?

Upgrade 7.0> 8.0> 9.0> Done

(also found in the docs you probably downloaded together with the software)

Kind regards

Hello, this is what Avaya Tech Support is telling me:
Go from 7 to 8 first, no upgrade license is required.
While in 8, apply 9.0 upgrade license.
Upgrade to 9

Your tech support sucks.

From the official Avaya docs:
"When upgrading to Release 9.0 from a previous major release an upgrade licence is required.
It is recommended that the IP Office Release 9.0 Software Upgrade license is installed before upgrading the system.
Although the license key may not be recognized immediately by the system running an earlier major release of software, it will be recognized when the system is upgraded to Release 9.0."

Why? Because in the unlikely event that you lose connection to the IPO during upgrade, the system will still work while you work on re-establishing the connection.

Kind regards

Gunnar

OK, thanks!
I will load the 9.0 license while in 7, as recommended, then upgrade to 8, then to 9.
Thanks a lot.
