Looking for a way (configuration and licensing) to relay sms text and IM to cell phones when they come into DIDs. I really would like to know if IP Office can receive text messaging. ( via ip office or VM pro or any module available) If so then relay to employee. Its just a way to put more on the business lines and relieve personal cell usage. Anyone have any ideas if Avaya has caught up with this yet?

Who smses DIDs?
Not supported by our carrier. Just tried for sh*ts and giggles.
Message failed.

Yeah its an employee "on call" handoff. It would be easier to always send text requests to one phone number than confusing logistics of who is on call. But does Avaya handle text messaging at all? I was also hoping to see if I could attach a data base to VM Pro and text in Commands for info. Opens up a lot of possibilities if IPO could take in text and talk to the VM PRO and execute data base responses.
Example, in a factory texting from a cell to a number(in IPO) for emergency contacts and get a text with info of "on call" personnel back.
Its digging into the depths of the abilities of IPO but I think its possible with how much these little guys can do. Would make me a rock star with this magic trick!!

Yes. Though Onex for internal messaging.
You can subscribe to a voice to sms relay service and dial out from vmpro with the message. But it would only go to pre determined numbers. Not Rafferty's Rules.

Avaya Messenger Service does exactly this. It is a cloud based service that can work with any phone system. It is priced on a per user subscription basis.

That's the good news. The crazy thing I have encountered is that I cannot get Avaya to quote either myself or my client directly on this service. Nobody seems to know anything about and I keep getting passed around. Maybe you'll have better luck though. Also, it's a US thing so not sure where you are located.

Pretty sure you have to quote it through One Source then go back to a Disty with it.

My SIP trunk provider does that with my DID's because some people are so text crazy that they don't know how to make a phone call any more and text any number they can find.
So maybe if you look for a line provider that can do it you don't need to re-invent the wheel.
