Greetings colleagues,

This inquiry may have been asked in previous years but I am unsure if it has been answered or resolved.

The background scenario is this: our country is finally moving from 7- to 10-digit national dialing as a result of adding a new NPA (too many mobile subscribers, I guess). The problem is we have not been able to have the T1 trunks look at all 10 digits being sent over the channel by the central office. The Incoming Routing Digits field of the T1 can only accept a single character. This causes erratic behaviour when the Incoming Call Route is unable to match the Incoming Number field to the digits received.

Does anyone know of a setting or workaround to capture all the digits sent to the line?

Thanks for your assistance.

then you need a new provider, never heard of such a thing, tell them you want all 10 digits

Thanks Joe, but the provider is NOT the problem. We are actually both Service Providers and PBX implementers. The full 10 digits were always being sent to the T1 but I had discovered that if I set the card to route after e.g. 9 digits, then when I called in by mobile the last 9 digits were received. When I called in by landline, the first 9 digits were received. This caused me to believe that numbers over the two platforms were being sent sequentially from right to left or left to right respectively.

I have since solved our problem by setting the Incoming Routing Digits to zero. Now I always see 10 digits as it appears that the T1 card waits for digit timeout from the service provider and then presents the full complement of digits.

I hope this helps anyone who may have encountered similar issues.

Me neither. The digits are always read right to left. So if the provider is 7 digits on a number it would read 5551212.
if its 10 digits then 8885551212 (example). Keep in mind the incoming call route needs to match the digits received, so if they are sending 10, your call routes should be looking for 10. It will match less, but better to match all.

It sounds like your were getting 7 digits locally, but 10 digits from cellular and it wasnt seeing them right.

pretty standard in Europe, we don't even have a field to specify the number of digits received.
the IPO performs a best match based on the number of digits received.

which means for example when the Line provider sends 6 digits (probably the most common setting in the UK) we can program the ICR with just 6 digits (& I will hate you) all 11 digits (documents things nicely thankyou) or even just the last 2,3 or 4 digits & it will still work.
Even Leaving the incoming number field blank gives a default route that will be used if there is no better match.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
