So far, all of my IPO work has been with just the control unit and onsite phones and occasionally a server running VMPro. Ive never set up remote phones or used one-x, equinox, softconsoles, or anything like that. I have a customer that has approached me and is wanting some of their agents to work from home. What are the options? They have an IP500v2 and a server running their VMPro. All their agents that will be working remotely do have VPN's set up on their home desktops currently. What kind of questions do I need to ask and what are the best ways to approach this? I do appreciate any help or feedback. This is outside of my realm of comfort but im anxious to learn.

I have my 9608 on my desk here at home using the built in VPN. It has worked out very well.

I am in a similar position, needing to setup home working with IPO 500v2 running v9.0 - We have 50 endpoints - what phones should I use or can I use a PC phone, will additional or special licenses be needed.
I have a few 1616 phones, will they work
Any help appreciated

Thanks guys. I have several 9600 series phones laying around so I would like to give that a test. Can anyone provide with me with a brief walk through of what would be required to get a VPN phone working remotely. Ive found a few docs that im skimming through but if anyone can provide me with specific info on how built in vpn client works, I would appreciate it. I know very little about networking and the data side to ip phones but im slowly building that knowledge base. Our shop IPO is sitting behind a Juniper SSG5. Will I need to setup a public IP to forward to the IPO and then point the remote phones to that public IP?

To set up the VPN in the phone, get into the craft menu, scroll down to VPN, enable it and set the parameters to match your firewall settings, When you get to the bottom of a screen, scroll to the right for the next page of parameters. When you get to the last screen, it is a review page of all of the VPN settings, when you press Back it saves your changes. Be sure the Call Server and File Server addresses are manually input in the ADDR section. Exit the craft menu, the phone will reboot, and after getting a local DHCP address, negotiate the tunnel, and register to the IPO. If the tunnel setup fails, press Details to see which phase is failing and adjust your settings
