Hello Everyone,

I am having an issue with popping noises on both internal and external calls. It seems to come and go and I have not been able to nail down the cause. I have changed both TCM cards and cant get rid of it.

The system is an IP Office 500v2 8.0(18)Essential, it has 2x tcm 8 cards 2x 2 port analog ext cards with one of these having a single pri daughter card. The sets are all Nortel, mostly t7316e and they all have Phone Manager Lite. Any input would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me insane!

Had the same problem on an earlier ver, upgraded to 8.0.18 problem disappeared, hopefully it will not reappear!

Were they Nortel branded T7316e or Avaya branded? Even though the phones look the same on the outside they have different internals, may be an issue there.

The sets are older Nortel branded sets. When I swapped out the cards it did seem to go away at first so it very likely could have slowly returned.

Thanks

Jeff

I am having the exact same problem on a Ver 7.0.27 system. I have 3 TCM 8 cards that have the popping noise on various ports. On my system only the called party hears the popping noise on both internal or external calls. I have swapped out cards & problem will not go away. I am not impressed with this product & am urging my Norstar & BCM customers to stay away until Avaya gets their act together. Their support is brutal to say the least!!!!!!

I have run into the same issue on IPO 500v2, software 7.0(23), digital trunking (PRI) and using mix of older Nortel and newer "Avaya" T-series phones. I wasn't able to confirm the noise on external calls, but did on internal. Suspect the TCM card, but not sure now after reading above posts. Has anyone found any information from Avaya? (tech bulletin?) Just starting my own research

Well it looks like I can call this solved. The issue seems to have been a faulty 7406 cordless phone. I got some errors in monitor that pointed towards it. It appears to have been connecting and disconnecting hence the problem coming and going. I would suggest if you can get the issue to happen while on site run monitor. If you get a TCM error remove the patch cords 1 at a time while watching monitor.
