I would like to set up a group of conference call lines (500-526), but am only allowed to add a maximum of 13 in the menu. If I add more, they won't check and then disappear when I OK out and come back in. What would cause a limited number of conference call extensions? Is it a licensing issue or a limit on the number of menu options?

I am adding them through Voicemail Pro 2.1 through the Specific Start Points - Short Codes - ConfCalling interface.
If any further info is needed, let me know!

Thanks,
Mike

You would have to make a shortcode to actually make the conference "room" in manager.

sc:
500
.
ConfMeetme

I had previously created them, the same as the ones that already existed (500-505), but it still will not allow me to add more to the VMPro side.

Thanks for the response!

Mike

I rann into the vm menu not letting you add more entries, but that was back in 2.1.2. I think the max was around 12 or 13. You would think it would have been corrected by now.

Hmm... so that is an interesting hint... perhaps I need to upgrade? Any ideas?

I just tried the menu options in 3.2 vm version, and could not enter more than 14 entries.

Well, that begs the question... How can I make this work then?

Mike

I have seen this in alot of versions it has always been 15 for the ones i have played with you would need to link 2 menus together for more.

Seems like an obvious answer (DOH!), but how do I do that?

Mike

That means you choiches start whit 1-1 so 11

menu 1 or 2 next 1 to menu 1 to 9 = 11 to 19
2 to menu 1 to 9 = 21 to 20

so you have 20 (DOH) :)

I don't have a clue what that means Peter :)

Why do you need to set them up as a specific DTMF string? Can you just set the 5?? to transfer to the SC you need.

I will say this though, it seems in 4.0 you have to set the SC to go to the shortcodes in VM pro. It seems like when I do it the old way sc/VM Collect/"Module" is not working anymore but I am still testing this.

I think you can fill in the ones I left blank by copying from the first one. I think this is close to what you are looking for. If not, hopefully you can adapt it as needed. 5?? transfer to 5$key may work as well.

That's what I figured. Not sure if it will work in our context. The best solution would be to dial the outside number for conferen calls, hit your conference number/pin and that's it, no worries about menus, etc.

A nested menu structure would be painful.

I would guess then that the next best thing would be just to setup another DID for the second batch.

If there are any other ideas of how to pull this off, I'd be much obliged.

Thanks for your support, once again!
Mike

I have some customers that have the same type of need, here is something I set up.

I set up a callflow where the auto attendant is choice 6. it is connected to a menu that is ??? with a time out of 3. I have a prompt here that askes to caller to enter the conf code which is the 3 digit meet me shortcode.

I then connected the ??? to a transfer with $KEY and put a PIN in.

The downside is that it uses the same PIN for all conferences, but it works great.

Good tip ronromano! I will look into doing that. I have some sample call flows that covers that type of config ("Conferencing and Voicemail Pro").

Thanks for that!

Mike

Ron, can you get that code to attach as an auth or account code as well?

I have another thread on that.....

I am big on setting up things like this that don't require a lot of babysitting. Having said that, I have not found a way similar to this to have different conferences have different PINs. I am unclear telecomtekperson, is that what you are asking?

I prefer the less babysitting way as well. I opt for security when it comes to conferencing as a good skilled competitor when I worked for another company left a lack of security on conference bridge capabilities, and it bit them hard. Their customer, which soon became ours, as well as a good amount more of their customers. They did not check their toll free number billing over a period of time to later see their bridges had been abused greatly. Someone was selling the 800# and bridge access info, which did not have a security policy in place.

I now advise my customers to change their pins quarterly or be advised they will be abused. Also, a 3 digit pin is not secure from a dialer if you have time to dial 999 times to get free access. so do not just change the pins, but also the confr numbers is a good idea if you use short pins.
long conference numbers are better than short, as well as long pins. Using conference DEFINITY dialed is easy to remember for the caller. That is dialed as 33346489 on a phone. The pin can be a word as well to the caller to make remmebering it easy.

Now I know this is not that common, but do you want to answer for it if the customer has a bad apple employee, or a conference attendee who will sell the info?

I have a call directed to a menu in VMPro. Menu has touch tones of company 7 digit phone number. When they enter it, it goes to a specific "conf bridge" of their own.

Is there any way to get Auth codes or account codes to attach to that call? If I have conf room of 500,501,502, etc, would CCC report against those? I just need to let the customer bill these conf calls
