Hey everyone,

We have an IPO 500v2 Running R7 with embedded voicemail.
We are trying to emulate what we have running at another location.
The other location is running FreePBX and we have our after hours IVR setup to say "The switchboard is now closed, please hold for automated directory" and then it times out and transfers the caller to the directory.

With the IPO, I know to set the fallback destination on an incoming route but I'm not sure how to set it up to fallback to the dial by name directory. Does anyone know if you can, and how to set up a shortcode or phantom user to forward to the directory?

I know that we could ask callers to press a digit to reach the directory but we are trying to avoid that. The idea is to use the same pre-recorded professional IVR file that we have at our other location.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Become a big boy and switch to VM Pro, that can do almost anything.

with embedded, I don't think this is possible. With VM pro, certainly is though.

The issue is that with an embedded AA, dial by name is triggered by DTMF on a key, leading to the prompt for dial by first name OR dial by last name, not both. So if you wanted a choice in first or last name, you'd actually have to make a starting AA, 1-->firstname, 2-->lastname, then hit a pair of AA's with another key leading to the actual dial by name prompts (note that what type of dial by name you are using is an option on the desired AA itself, therefore a requirement for TWO AA's to offer both choices).

Maybe someone else has figured a really clever way around this?

Thanks for the replies!
I would LOVE to upgrade to VMPro but it just isn't feasible right now.

I had a feeling it wouldn't be possible with embedded. I think I will just use the professional IVR promo we have and have the fallback set to a secondary AA where they can select from dialing by first or last name. It's not what I wanted to do but it will get the job done for now.

Again, thanks! [thumbsup]

I would suggest not using the system dial by name directory but instead create a new AA that lists all the company extensions and set that as the fallback on the call route. Most customers don't like the system dial by name directory anyways since you need to record your name into voicemail and callers need to know exactly who they're trying to reach when calling.

Why don't you just record the night automated attendant to say

[ul]The switchboard is now closed
To leave a message for Fred Flintstone, dial Ext. 200
For Betty Rubble, dial Ext. 201
etc.[/ul]

and forget about transferring from one automated attendant to another
