Guys,

A customer has an USB MP3 player connected to an IPO 500v2 where they advertise their goods and services...
Is it possible to have customers when they are put on hold to hear one set of musical jingles and staff members listen to a different music source either an external radio source or an MP3 player?

Also, I've noticed that if I dial *34 the Music On Hold feature plays the music from the USB however, it appears as though it "dials and connects" and starts a counter. If a call comes to that unit, it rings normally and the music stops when you finish with the call, you have to dial *34 again, every time you answer and hang-up.
Can this be set automatically?

I was thinking to use the SD card for the jingles provided they are acceptable (Music On Hold) and use the MP3 played for any musical content they want to listen to (internally)

Am I on the right track?

Thanks
ngm

It is a phone system not a radio.
In most countries using a radio as MoH is illegal and the IP office doesn't support it for that reason.
You are right, when you call *34 you are on a phone call and that makes it a nuisance to get other calls as they don't ring properly.

The IP Office has never done 'background music' and probably never will.

Meanwhile, "Is it possible to have customers when they are put on hold to hear one set of musical jingles and staff members listen to a different music source" - yes, if you can tell us which release of IP Office software your system is running.

In current release you can define 3 additional sources (WAV files) for an IP500 V2 - see System | Telephony | Tones & Music and press F1. Then under the incoming call route for your external calls you would select which music source is applied to those calls.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
