Hi, guys.
I have a IP Office SE 10.1 and I´ms using its DHCP server to serve IP phones. Looks like DHCP server stops responding after when several telephones ask for IP configuration. Any idea?

Define several hundred? - 100, 200, 300, more?

What is your address range configuation? Have you setup DHCP Pools and if so, what are they?

What are the phones displaying?

What type of phones?

Don't ask for help and then provide the minimum of information. Our psychic powers are limited.

Also it may not be a DHCP issue. If this is a new install or a system you just upgraded, you need to know that the system can only server new firmware files to a limited number of phones at a time. It may take a while for them to all upgrade. I'm sure I've seen it in an Avaya document (but couldn't find it at the moment).

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Hi Sizbut.

Sorry for the lack of info.

I have almost 200 phones, most of them being J129 and some 16XX
Phones displays show the "waiting for DHCP" message.
I´m using just 1 DHCP pool configured for 220 IP address.
It´s an Avaya provided server new install.

I´ve been sniffing the IPO ethernet port and found that it´s receivig DHCP request but it does not answer. If I make a little change in the DHCP settings it suddenly starts working again.

could be the network switch too.
is it a flat network or VLAN'd

do you see the DHCP request coming into the server when you Monitor it?

Hi Westi
This is a VoIP only dedicated network and I do see DHCP requests comming into the server, but there´s not response from the server itself.
If I chagne anithing in DHCP configuration (eg: little change in pool size) DHCP server starts working back again.

What about making the pool a bit bigger? I think the lease time is too big in your case.
You could try to search for it (the dhcp lease) in the Linux part of the SE.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Hi, @tlpeter
Can you remember the linux commands that I should use to get DHCP leases and other things?

Which interface are you using?
