Hello

Has anyone ever connected an ip office through its bri ports successfully to a BRI SIP gateway such as Mediatrix. Above is the settings available in the mediatrix box. Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

We extensively use SIP to BRI gateways (OneAccess 425s) at a lot of our Client sites, from experience they have been mostly plug and play. Does the IP Office recognize the link is up when you plug it in? (In System Status > Trunks > BRI Line, does it show up as 'Idle'?)

no link is made at all between the system and the gateway. the gateway statues indicates the link as being down. above is the settimgs for the gateway. all other bri systems i have connected to the gateway works by defult when plugged in. any settings needing changed i wonder. the card on ip office 500 is a combi bri one. cheers

Maybe just double check that you''ve set up the CO and CPE sides correctly as well as the line type (Qsig, ETSI) in both the NTU and the IPO

cheers. so here is images from both the IPO line settings and the settings for the line on the BRI gateway. what settings do you reccomend changing. any other system i have connected to the gateway through BRI works perfectly

thanks again

See how the Line Type is set to ETSI on the IP Office, but the NTU Signaling Protocol is set to QSIG. Make the line type a QSIG in the IP Office and see how you go

where do i set QSIG on the IPO. There must be recommended settings for Euro BRI ISDN. most other brands of system connects automatically to the settings by default in the NTU. checked the lines in sysytem statues and they are saying out of service

It's in the screenshot you posted, top right option 'Line Subtype'

there is only 2 options under that menue either ETSI or So Bus

Ahh you might have a very old IP Office that can't handle QSIG or something.....

Theres an option to set the line type on the Mediatrix, change the Signalling Protocol from QSIG to ETSI

Yes its IPO 4.2 on the mediatrix its either QSIG or DSS1 for signaling protocol

Ive tried the DSS1 on mediatrix as well to no avail. this is the option that works with all other BRI telephone systems

You might be out of luck here mate, Release 4.2 is an ancient build of the IPO software, I know in later releases you can use QSIG. If you can upgrade the chassis you might get it going, but otherwise not sure what else you can do here.

OK so is ETSI a different form to maybe what my gateway supports then so. from what release does IPO support QSIG

ETSI is the Euro Telecom Standard Institute, pretty much all ISDN lines we use (Australian) are ETSI type. Have you had much experience with IP Office? You may want to familiarise yourself with the documentation before trying to set one up, they are complicated systems.

Have not used IPO much no, this is for UK ISDN. or Euro ISDN as its called. my main issue might be that the IPO signaling is not compatible with the BRI gateway i have

Euro ISDN should use ETSI, it's literally in the name Euro Telecom Standard Institute. You're right about the IPO not being compatible with the BRI gateway, unless you upgrade the IPO or get a gateway that can handle ETSI you are out of luck here.

I'm pretty sure any IPO version above 8.1 can handle ETSI trunks, and you wouldn't have to convert your Licensing either. Talk to your Avaya RSP about upgrading if you want to go down that route.

Something has come to light...will a BRI combi card work with a V2 4.2 or does the firmware need to be a latter release for it to work. i may need a standard BRI card instead
