Anyone know the trick to install the IP Office Application Server 6.1.22 Linux appliance on VMWare? I know it is not supported. However, I heard that it works very well on VMWare. When I boot the installation CD in a VWare virtual machine it crashes during installation.

when you say VMware....?

vmware workstation? ESX?

I have it running in ESXi and its perfect.

I also have 4 of them running on a single vmware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) without issue. I used CentOS 4/5 32-bit as the VM option.

Did you mount the ISO? install it then unmount it otherwise it will reinstall it again.

Runs for me on VMware and Oracle virtualbox

I am using ESX 4.1. Selected CentOS 4/5 32-bit option. Mounted the ISO image. The installation program starts automatically. Next, I get a solid white cursor. The installation gets stuck at that point.

Could be the ISO is corrupted, try to download it again.

There seems to be a compatibility problem with Cent OS 5 and AMD CPUs. I am using an HP DL385 G7 server with VMWare ESX 4.1. I will try installing on an server with an Intel CPU and report back.

Ahh. Yea I have no AMD powered systems. I have it running on a Core 2 Quad based 2008 R2 running Hyper-V and a dual Xeon based ESXi 4.1 server.

And if I have to be perfectly honest it isn't the appliance DVD but an expansion of that project to be introduced as part of Calgary. Still it has VM Pro and one-X among other things so I would assume it to work the same way.

I have it running on my own server which is AMD based and indeed it has some problems once in a while.

Also i have had a complaint about 1XP stopped working on a HP DL120 with a AMD proccessor.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I also have it running on an amd system

it is actualy running under VirtualBox on a Fedora System

I do not Have A.D.D. im just easily, Hey look a Squirrel!

Thank you all for your responses. I was able to install the application server on an Intel powered ESX 4.1 host. CentOS 5.5 has compatibility problems with AMD® Opteron® 6100 Series processors.
