I am encountering a trouble with what seems to be the 1416 microphone activating. The trouble is when I try to make a call using the speakerphone a feed back noise is heard - when I lift the handset to talk to the caller I am also hearing everthing that is going on in the room around me. I tried putting the call on hold and going back to it with the same annoying result.
It seems like its doing a conference with the Handset - Called Party - 1416 Telephone. The phones are in an open room with many phones nearby. I first thought it had to do with the Line Appearances ( key system style) I've changed most with the exception of the receptionist to Call Park and No line Appearances.

Try turning the automatic gain control settings on (or off, depending) on the phone.
Hit the A/MENU button, go to Advanced, Audio, and select speaker (or handset) and adjust it and test.

Exactly AAcon is correct, as you are in an open area with multiple phones you will need to shut off auto gain control and you still might not be able to do a speaker call due to these limitations

acss sme acis sme acss cm 5.2.1 acss cm and cmm acss aura messaging.

I have followed the advice to change the AGC settings and I still have the problem. Now even when making a normal call by lifting the handset I can hear my surroundings ( My telephone MIC is half way on as if I tap the Mic I hear it but not as loud as i would expect the caller seems to be far away like if some one intrudes in your line. We are using WindStream lines and wonder if there is something in the Line Impedance that needs troubleshooting? Appreciate those that took the time to reply to my post for help with this difficult situation.

Oh you're using analog lines? I had a problem with windstream lines recently and this horrible echo issue. Go into each line you use on the system, and turn OFF the echo cancellation. I think you have to be on the latest SP2 for it to show up. I'm not, and it doesn't. It did on a customer system that had it. Once we turned it off, the echo went away instantly. Seems counter intuitive.

I think I might of changed those settings as I was looking at the lines and it did not fix it but I will try to make sure and follow your instructions. Although I believe its something with the phone. A feature being activated.

I pulled the ATM daughter boards out of a combo card
and my guess it is the same Daughter board for all ATM ?? and installed it on a cheaper PHone/card since I did not need additional stations. I also used a second daugter board on a DLC. (2 combo 1 DLC 1 phone = 16x20x12). Also, to clarify when I say I hear my surroundings I mean through the handset its like without any signs a Mic on the phone is activated thereby not
really having much to do with the line it may seem.

Also, this customer wanted to keep 2 digit extensions. May be some type of feature is being activated when they dial out?? The Users (10-45) - lines 701-716. I believe I assigned them a softphone even though I have not reached that point yet of connecting to the LAN. Aganin Thank you for your help

I followed the advice given by AACon and it helped but I also had to change the db settings of the trunk lines to -1.0 db.
By turning off the echo reduction on the trunk settings I noticed the line squealing improved/Fix. Now I do not know exactly what cause the issue but with all of this said the echo/line bleeding/ seemed to improve. I was told the trunk settings manipulation was part of the IP office training and I sure missed that part. Sorry I don't have the motivation to go back and find out what the real problem --but I will say the Trunk db settings is a factor.
