Hi Folks,

IP Office R8.0.66 in a 4 Node SCN. All 4 nodes are 8.0.66. When it joined the SCN it started randomly restarting 3 or 4 times per day. It has two combo cards in it, and 8 voice networking licenses. Trunking is done in another SCN node via PRI. After the reboot there are no alarms. There are no alarms on any of the SCN Nodes. Control unit audit shows Cold Start, Normal and System Reboot. Monitor shows a normal startup with no clues before the reboot. I have:
[ul]
[li]Tried a couple different R8.0 releases[/li]
[li]Replaced the Control Unit hardware[/li]
[li]Replaced all cables[/li]
[li]Moved to a different UPS[/li]
[li]Bypassed the UPS[/li]
[li]Format/Recreate SD Card[/li]
[/ul]

Have I missed something here?

It is a IP500 V2 ?
Upgrade it to R11 via an IPOSS contract. This way if it still fails you can open a ticket with Avaya.
I always thought combo cards only worked as of 8.1(63) but given you are so out of date its probably worth just going to R11

Correction, V1 Combo cards will work on your release. V2 will not

Check system status and you should see if there is an abnormal termination

This maybe an issue with one of the combo cards. Have u replaced them?

Bucky101 - My client is not going to approve the expense of upgrading 4 systems to R11. And I believe upgrading will gain me nothing.

bahmonkeys - Reason for reboot is always Normal Powerup, I never see abnormal termination. I did miss something... I will change out the combo cards one at a time to see if one of them is causing it.

Thanks for your reponses!

You stock spare systems? You replace the onboard power supply of the phones system?

It does look like a hardware issue

Yes, I replaced the entire control unit. The only hardware left to replace are the 2 combo cards and the physical SD card. Now I need to find a replacement V1 Combo card.

Hi Inder,
I see you copied my previous post about the rebooting. Mine (after replacing & upgrading everything) just happened to be the provider of the PRI. After they walked their underground cable path, replaced their parts & removed mice out of their pedestals. No more problems.
I see you say the system that is doing the rebooting however is getting their trunks via over a SCN. So don't think that would be the answer for you.
The only thing I would try is, you say it's SCN with 4 systems & started to happen after you did this is, remove one system at a time from the SCN. Since yours is rebooting at least three times a day, you should find which system is causing the issue, sooner then later.
My rebooting was so random, I thought after replacing parts on mine it was fine, after a couple weeks, then it acted up again. Upgraded, thought it was good & again acted up.
The whole time was the provider.

Hi,
did you check Monitor log - part "PRN: +++ START OF ALARM LOG DUMP +++"
Look for alarms have been reported on the system every time it has rebooted.
If there are some ALARM logs check for descriptions related for 'addr' and 'pc' values.
I had once similar problem (random restart) and it turns out it was related due IPO release version, VCM and SIP trunk combination. In Monitor log like (while System status just report normal restart and no alarm entries):
