We've just installed a new IPO 500v2, R7.0. We have a PRI T1 for all in and outbound call traffic. Everything is up and working great with the 1416 phones. We are now working on a couple of 1616 phones. They are up, registered, and able to call one another (IP to IP calls only). As soon as we try to call from a 1616 phone to a 1416 phone, we get an error indicating that the phone cannot be reached. If we try calling voicemail (*17) we get a line busy error. On 9+ outbound calls on the T1, we get a waiting for trunk message that never clears. If we place a call from a 1416 phone to the 1616 extension, the call rolls straight into voicemail. We did verify that the IP Office is set to act as the gatekeeper for IP calls. Has anyone ever experienced these issues? Any pointers or ideas to try? Thanks in advance!!!

Sounds almost like they are registered to a different system, what does monitor show during this testing ? :)

There could be a problem with the VCM's (voice compression modules) can you confirm in monitor that the VCM'm are there.

VCM's are required to support the following scenarios:

• Internal phone calls between an IP device and a non-IP device.
• Analog/digital telephones to IP trunks (SIP/H.323) including managed Frame Relay and managed IP VPN (provides echo cancellation).
• IP telephones to ISDN or PSTN trunks (convert IP to TDM and vice-versa).

You hit the issue right on the head Lugman. We were just too rummy last night to realize it. We had one module that wouldn't come up when we installed it, and it happened to be the one with the VCMs. Once we have the replacement unit we should be good to go. Thanks for the help guys!

What unit do you mean?
There are issues with combocards not running on anything lower then 7.0.23!

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I'll find out the specifics of the card and get back to you... We should be on the latest software release, but I'll verify that as well.

Software is on 7.0(5) according to the upgrade wizard.

But is it a combocard?
If yes then try an upgrade.

OK, finally an update. I received the replacement card in the mail and installed it today. Same issue. It is, indeed, a combo6210 card. The errors I get in system status when trying to place a call indicate the following:
The following system resources are all in use:
Voice Compression Module Channels (VCM).

I'll look into an update. In the meantime, if you have any other thoughts I'm all ears.

some of the new combo cards seem to be requiring the IPO to be upgraded to 7.0.23 in order to function properly.

What is your IPO running? If it's not 7.0.23, upgrade.

I'm on 7.0.5. I'm trying to find the 7.0.23 upgrade now.

Found and downloaded the 7.0.23 upgrade. I'll perform the update after work hours this afternoon and see how it goes...

Last update.... It worked great! Thanks to those that pointed me to the upgrade. Everything came right up and is working perfectly.
