Can anyone tell me how to set up the auto attendant to answer if no one pick up the call.

I have set up a hunt group to ring when the main line number is dialed and i assumed i could select the auto attendant as the fallback extension but i could not do so.

i want the auto attendant to answer if there is no one available to pick up the call ringing on the hunt group for the main line number

Use the Overflow mode in the Huntgroup.
Fallback extension is only for when the VMPro/EVM stopped working or when you have an AA and didn't press a button whitin the timeout.

but i thought you can only choose another group as the overflow, i have tried that way too and it would only let me choose another group and not the auto attendant

Yes. You will need to create an overflow group, and a phantom user within that group will forward to the auto attendant.

If it ain't broke, why fix it?
If it's broke, try to fix it..
If you can't fix it, get yourself a good baseball bat and swing away! :)

Thanks guys

i knew that it was possible to do i just couldn't remember how to do it. Thanks for the quick replies

I believe there is a FAQ that addresses this. There are quite a few steps so it was helpful. When it is all done you will have a short code, an extension, and a hunt group that when dialed should all give you the auto attendant message you are looking for.

These are the basic steps:
Create the automated attendant
Create a short code like this:
Short code/auto attendant name/auto attendant/0
Create a user with no phone
Set forwarding on this phone to unconditional & make sure the forward hunt and forward internal boxes are checked
Set the forwarding number to the short code you created
Create a sequential hunt group and make the user you just created the only member
Test at this point - this is where you should hear your greeting when you call either the short code, the phantom extension, or the hunt group.
Go to your original group and make the new group the overflow.
