Hi Guy's !!

Simple question,

Remote extension with Port Wan IP Office external IP Fix, do you have security trouble about hacking or something....

I want to sell that solutions for a client but need to be sure that secure you know..

Do not connect the WAN port of the IP Office directly to the internet. Stay behind a firewall and use VPN phones for anything off-site.

Port forwarding works too.
And indeed avoid putting the IPO on the public side.

Ok i want to use remote for not using a router with a vpn... more easy for the client, just plug her phone and use it by anywhere. But with a internal adress at the office, that not working. I need to put a IP fix directly on IP office to make it working or i don't know what are the other solution ??

How can forward a port by the router to the ip office ?

Weird problem !!!!!

I put my IP FIX behind a router and forward all the port
configure the lan2 of ip office with a private ip adress
create the route 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0/192.168.1.1
start the stun / receive a full cone nat
active remote extention on user / voip option

Phone
Call server : public ip adress
HTTP : public ip adress
HTTPS : public ip adress

The phone working fine 2 days, and a moment, just reboot and discover the call server adress. I try to put default the phone, and starting again, discover.

On my PC (not same Public IP then the ip office) i ping the Public ip adress correctly.

Maybe someone know what can be the problem.... Working and just stop working for nothing !!!
 
remote phones using port forwarding & NAT traversal can be hit & miss

some ISPs are known to block the ports necessary (Virgin Media) & it is possible others may make network changes at any time that break things
the original suggestion of using a VPN router is still the best option, it may cost more to install but it will cost far less in maintenance in the long run.



A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
 
I agree, but lot of people use remote phone and Avaya Support this type of configuration... So why not using it. It build to use, just need to fine what the problem !
 
So why not using it

For the reasons IP Guru just gave, you know..the exact problem you're having i.e they are hit and miss with no reasoning behind it half the time :)
