Morning

I have been asked to research if we can activate a time profile on the phone system when the fire alarm sounds so that calls drop and customers are made aware?

I have spoken to the alarm company and they can send a message via ESPA or E Mail via IP gateway.

Would the Avaya system be able to receive either of these and use it to trigger a profile.

I apologise if this is a crazy request but my system knowledge on phones is limited to say the least so any help would be great.

No it can't, only a handset or something connected to the system dialling a code can activate night service/out of service for a group, time profiles are activated by time once programmed not anything else :)

So if I could get the phone panel to dial the code that would do it?

That would do whatever you programmed the code to do, but as I said you can't activate time profiles like that, but you can do lots of other things like activate night/out of service on groups and anything else a shortcode allows you to do (see Manager Help files) :)

with VM pro you could activate a condition to reroute your calls.
I usually set something like this up on all systems so the cust can activate an emergency msg from a phone

Computers are like Air conditioners:-
Both stop working when you open Windows

That sounds ideal but I know less about VM Pro than I do about the phone system how would I go about that?
