Hi,

anyone think this is possible?

Use a spare analog trunk on the 403, connect an analog to sip adapter to the port. Create the spare trunk port with a line group of 3. setup the sip adapter to use a sip provider.

create a shortcode 3N.N.Dial > Line Group 3 to allow any handset to dial out using voip.

Logic says it should work. Anyone tried it?

Thanks

Toxic

That will work, as far as the IP Office is concerned it's an analogue trunk, be sure to get a decent SIP converter that supports disconnect clear so as to avoid the usual issues assosciated with analogue trunks :)

the only thing that could cause you problems is the ring voltage and it might not recognize the ringing or the dial tone outgoing if it is distorted.
I have this setup on Partner systems and they work fine so far and for the newest Partner systems it is even supported by Avaya.

If you can't be good, be good at it!

Anyone make a recommendation for an appropriate adapter to fulfill this setup for the UK and an appropriate sip provider with decent rates..

Thanks

Toxic.

Or upgrade to an ip500 and do it a normal way :)

In many circumstances upgrading to an IP 500 may be the normal way to do it. However, due to financial constraints this is not possible. Also, why chuck out a system that works fine and has the potential to provide a solution that is cost effective and works.

Unless tlpeter you have an IP 500 kicking round you might want to pass over to me for a few bucks.

LOL.

PAP2T from linksys is what I use, that gives you 2 ports so you can actually double up if you have two spare trunks.

For $1500 you have your ip500 with trunkcards and probably also your siptrunk licenses
I think that is a bargain :)
