I have 2 trunks, 1 PRI=line group 0 & 4 analog co lines=line group 1. 00N is barred on the ARS but as I dial 9 and wait for how many seconds I was able to access the analog trunk directly & from there I can dial any international nos. But dialing 900N without any inter-digit delay call barring works fine.

Thanks,

>00N is barred on the ARS

Don't do barring from ARS

Do you use a 9 prefix, or not?

If you do, put in the system shortcodes

SC 900N
Feat - busy
etc

If not
SC 00N
Feat - busy

I'd guess you 9 to force calls out over the analogue line so you may need both.

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

9 is outgoing access, there is no barring on the ARS. Setup is that the analog CO (LG 1) is used for local calls within the city, and PRI(LG 0)for NDD/IDD calls that uses account code. System SC is 9N which goes ARS where N=dial for local calls, 0N & 00N=dial FAC ON.

But dialing 9 with seconds inter-digit delay displays "External" and I am getting the analog CO directly. Dialing 90N or 900N without delay is asking for accound code which is correct.

Have you taken the ? . dial shortcode out?

Still no luck. I even restricted all outgoing calls (9N)for 1 ext. in user SC but when it dials 9 and and wait for 2-3secs. delay it was able to hit the analog CO trunk with "External" on the phone displayed and from there it can dial any outgoing number.

I think you need to take a look to your shortcodes and ARS forms

Make two shortcodes in your system shortcodes

0N
dail
N
50:Main

and

9N
dail
N
50:Main

In your ARS form 50:Main

Make two shortcodes

0N
dail
N
line id pri

And

9N
dail
N
line id analog

If this works then go further with settings you want

I made it work. On the system SC 9N=dial, tel=N and on the ARS SC i defined 1N, 2N...8N for the analog CO line group id and 0N, 00N for pri line group id. I removed N=dial, tel.=N on the ARS. With this dialing 9 with delay no longer goes to the analog CO trunk directly.

thank you for all the ideas.

I have a PRI line and have set up two extensions to use the analog ports on my IP406 Office box. That is working but I have to dial 9 on those analog lines to get an outside line. Kind of annoying for the fax machine (one line) and a problem for the alarm (the other line). Is it possible to set these extensions to only dial outside lines - or something to prevent me from having to dial 9 first. That is all they are being used for - outside numbers...

Give the fax and the alarm a user shortcode

N
dial
N
line id of the trunk

as tlpeter said tel number on the shortcode needs to be an N as well, not a 9.

your in the right place tho

Thanks guys. I got it working. The help is *much* appreciated.

tlpeter - I need to hire someone to help me do some programming on my system. Would you be available to do some work? If so, how can I contact you (the system doesn't seem to let me email you) to discuss this possibility.

I live in a small country in europe so i guess i am not your man :)

Well, I could give you temporary IP access into the system... Here are the things that I need help with:

1) The analog lines do not work with my alarm system. Supposedly they are not 'hot' enough - or not loud enough. My fax dials out on them fine, but the alarm system doesnt...

2) Outgoing Caller Id currently shows the 4 digit extension of dialing phone. This is odd. Obiously, I would like to change this to “business name” and "phone number"

3) I don't know how to specify that phones in public locations can only dial outbound to local area codes.

4) Don't know how to set up remote call out (call-in/call-out) – set up to allow me to dial into the system and to dial out on an outgoing line - and how to set it up with a level of security (incoming caller id specific?)

5) How do I get vm remotely How do I register an outside number for the purpose of auto logging into the system to pick up voice mail? (pg 57 of 5610 User Guide), for turning on and off call forwarding, etc.

6) How do I set the system to call and notify another number after a message has been left? Can it simply send a text message rather than call?

7) How does a caller who hears a voice mail message get out of leaving a message and direct back to the receptionist? Neither # nor * seem to get you out of the vm box…

8) How do I convert on voice mail to email?

where are you located, it sounds like a job for somebody on site rather then strictly remote work, even though it can be done remotely but someone needs to test outgoing access.
As for your alarm lines, call your alarm company and have them make sure that the alarm system is in front of the phone system and if the lines are not hot enough it is their problem or have the line provider check the lines specs
you may want to open a new thread and ask for a local tech to come by your company and fix your issues, there are a few out there already looking for local assistance, it seems people prefer sunny locations like Florida ;-)

Thanks for everyone's help. I'm in the Chicago western burbs.

You should never ever put alarm lines through a phone system ever, it's a big no no, they should always go on a dedicated line. The alarm company should know this.

the alarm business is like the phone business, a lot of people work in it and have not really a clue what it is they should be doing.

Any tech in Chicago that wants to make some extra money and win a new customer
