I have multi entries in our /var/adm/messages:

May 4 14:45:59 CLPTCMISSUN057 bootpd[12299]: [ID 817310 daemon.notice] IP address not found: 10.132.100.47

10.132.100.47 is our DNS server... Defined in resolv.conf.

I am able to ping and do nslookups....

Any Idea on what may be causing this????

Thanks.....

Yeah. Turn off bootp? or find what is asking bootp for config data for the IP address. Those would be where I would start. It looks like (from that message) bootp is complaining that the IP is not in its config files.

First thing I did was comment out the bootps - bootpd in the inetd.config.

The bootptab config file had all entries commented out. I am not sure why they had it in inetd......

Even with the line commented out, I still receive the messages in /var/adm/messages.

Do you need to reboot the system? I am guessing the values may be stored in memory....

You need to pkill -HUP inetd to make it re-read its configuration.

Annihilannic.
