Hi,

I walked into a downed system today. The customer has an IP 500 running a release of 4.0 (61104). Is this a special build? I am bringing out a replacement box until an RMA can deliver a new box to them and then we can upgrade them to the latest release (amazing what some BP's do to customers.

Any info would be appreciated.

Why not just upgrade the existing 4.0(61104) to 5.0(8)?

Indeed, the latest releases will usually contain the fix that is in the special build and 4.0 anything is just nasty :)

Guys,

I understand all of that and thank you for responding so soon but the power supply is shot and I need to restore his last config as a ban-aid so they can get back in business. Does anybody know where I can get the software release listed above? I just need to get them up and running for now. I would rather not have to upgrade the Delta server/VmPro/User apps, etc...

Thanks again

I'm pretty sure you would have to get it from the installing vendor, if they even still have it, or from Avaya Tier 3.

That is a special build, you will have to hope that the PC onsite has the correct Manager installed so you can go to that level as it isn't freely available to download. Usually a software mismatch between system and apps is not too bad but I have not tried such a large difference as 4.0 to 4.2 or 5 :)

The manager shouldn't be a problem, I manage anything from 4.2 down to 2.1 from my 5.0 manager.

It's strange that Avaya doesn't have a replacement PSU for the IP500, but you can always take one from a fresh unit to get it running if you need anything from it, although I don't think Avaya wants you to do that =)

Janni78, I mentioned having the correct Manager because that meant he could use it to upgrade/downgrade the new unit to match the special build :) I also use 5.0 to Manage down to 3 sometimes 2 releases if I feel brave :)

i reckon harden up, and start downloading all the apps / vm etc and upgrade them like any good partner would do! customers like it when you have told them they are on the latest (working) software..... adds a little value....

You could search for IP500.bin on the vmpro computer and use upgrade to determine the version.

I used the R5 manager on my 3.2 system the other day to change the no answer time on a user that has their phone forwarded to their cell phone and it broke the forwarding button. i had to go back in under 3.2 manager and remove/re add the button.

Did you report it to Avaya? It's more trouble than it's worth sometimes but they don't know about it otherwise, so they can't fix it :)
