This is a new IP 406v2 system. Users are saying that their calls are being disconnected. It is true, because on one of the Digital set 5402 I was in a conversation and the line dropped. When I pressed redial button on the set I had "no stored number" message, meaning that the extension has been disconnected.

Can anyone tell what is going on with this system? I am running Version 3.1. Is it a hardware fault?

On monitor I had these messages during this event:

The "DownGlitch Timeout" looks suspicious to me
are you using the suppliced 1M patch cord to link the modules?

This is absolutly essential if you do not want an unreliable system.

Otherwise I would suspect a faulty DS module.

also the ISDN PHDI means Physical Hardware Disconnect Indicator, this would be iether a fault with an ISDN circuit or an ISND channel that is not connected.
If you do not have spare ISDN circuits then you have a network fault which could also be a cause for reboots

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am using the supplied patch cord, but the DS ports being disconnected are the ones on the 406 main unit. The only expansion that I have is a phone 8.

As regards to the ISDN, you are right because sometimes external calls are also disconnected. I tested all the ISDN channels and sometimes some of them fail but there is no pattern. I have 4xBRI and calls disconnect sometimes from line1 other times from lines 2,3 and 4.
Being that local extensions are being disconnected I am suspecting that the actual unit is faulty and not the ISDN circuit.

But do you mean that a faulty ISDN can cause my system to reboot?
As a first step I was going to replace the 406 processor and check if the problem pops up again.

It has certainly benn the case in the past that Errors on the ISDN circuit have been a cause of rebbots, this wass more apparent on certain software builds.

In your case as it is not performing a full reboot but just causing eratic call cut off I would agree that the most likly candidate is the 406.
befor replaceing it check the following points

1) All internal expansion boards are correcctly & firmly fitted, a miss fitted ISDN board can cause all sorts of strange effects.

2) Make sure you are using the correct PSU for the IP406
The IP406DS requires a higher watage psu than the IP400 Phone 8

if the above are correct then request a replacemet unit

Thank you so much. The last point can be true. Somebody might might have swapped the PSU and it is not driving enough power then it certainly disconnects calls.
I will take a look - thanks again.
