Keeping on the intuity fax server trail. When we send faxes to our Intuity fax number the name on the sending fax machine comes up with "CORNERSTONE .. T/R FAX" just after the call is answered.

We've tried this from a few faxes and we get the same information, any idea how this can be changed ?

Also, we are finding some faxes will get through first time, others second time, and some not at all, is there a fax group setting, i.e. group3 fax etc..?

Error messages back are "line hung up" or "line fail". I've increased the mailbox size to 4800, and the voice mail max length and the call answer message to 1200, but still no joy.

NOTE : This a dedicated fax, setup from a phantom extension using a secondary ext for the DID number.

Thanks

Iain

It's me again!

This is a common problem that even we couldn't fix. Hope to here more from others if they managed this.

Iain,

Typically the name that comes across will be from a station/vdn/extension that is labelled in that way. as for the non delivery issues, it could be a number of things... one thing that comes into my mind is the vintage of the analog board. If it is an old board the ring voltage could be something below +/- 48vdc..

secondly... looking at all of your ports that are punched to your intuity... if you are using 16 port boards.. you should have staggerd your voicmail ports between the fist and second half of the analog port board. an example
a 6 port intuity.. would require the use of two 8 port boards... you would punch down ports 1 and 2 of analog board one to the VM port 1 & 2. Your next punch down ports from analog board one would be 4 and 5 going to VM port 3 & 4. the next would be analog board two ports 1 & 2 to VM port 5 & 6. The reason for this is (it kindah fuzzy but I am trying to remember) is because of how the tone clock affords time to the bus on that particular carrier...each card regardless of type (digital or analog ) has primary ports... on an 8 port card you would split the card in half and the first two port of each half have primary dibbs to the tone detector/clock then the tone/clock would cascade to the other ports in that half. Same principle applies to a 16 port card but I think you would divide it into 4ths. So it could be a clock/tone issue. You might try to monitor the ports on the intuity as traffic/faxes are being delivered.

Another possible reason could be that your ring and tip are swapped.

Bad cable

Umm.... no que if you are using this fax for a considerable group that has considerable fax volume.

If I think of anything that might help you I will post again.

Cheers,

BoBAz

With regards to the name appearing on the senders fax, the name of the Phantom extension (DID) is Test Fax, the name of the Audix Mailbox is Test Fax, is there anywhere else I should check ?

Checking cables and connectors on the Intuity, but we're noticing that faxes from our outbound Castelle unit (networked fax) are working, but from a normal fax machine are not. In both cases the inbound fax to the Intuity is via an outside line.

Iain

i think this is due to the fax machine type as the intuity is not compatable with all fax types , so either you try fax from anther machine type or you may need to lear the intuity of the different types of tones .
we face such problem long back and even avaya could do nothing for some type of fax machines !!!!
