Do you have any interesting examples of creative ways people use their keyboards to express themselves online?

Also, many popular expressions have been reduced to an alphabet soup that I find hard to digest. For instance "AFAIK" --- my stomach still turned even when I found out what it stands for. And, what in the world is "IMO"? :s

Having experienced the people who like to communicate in this way first-hand, my opinion still stands that they want to obscure their meaning to decrease understanding. It may make them feel clever, sure, but not because they are wanting others to puzzle over and decipher it. They'd be content to have no one understand.

Maybe it's just me, but if I can't understand this type of abbreviation immediately, I ignore it. If someone is trying to communicate with me, they've failed - and (strangely ) I don't feel I've missed anything important.

Same here. And I indeed think they're just ignorant of the fact they're not communicating.
They think they're showing how smart they are, when in fact they're showing only their own stupidity.

Does anyone else use TY for Thank You or is it just me?

I'll tell you what really winds me up, when people say PIN Number. It happens all the time, even on the good old BBC! (Or should that be BBC Corporation?)

We seem to have substantially moved away from Internet Shorthand into general acronyms and/or initialisms.

Let's close down this thread.

Good Luck
