Hi All,

I am stuck up in a site with an issue given below:

There are in all 5 managers. Any manager will dial a number (say *98) and all the phones of the rest of the 4 managers will start ringing. They pick it up and they can hear each other and discuss details. Could you please help me out? They said it worked fine with the older norstar system.

The PABX used is IPO500V2 8.0.44. Voicemail Pro too is available and is using currently.

Thanks a lot in advance

Hello jackie1983,

I think you need to build a short code in manager that should be set to:

Short Code: *98
Feature: Conference Meet Me
Number: Blank
Line Group: 0

@luqman

I am sorry..it dint work. The calls wont go anywhere.

are you sure you have VM Pro with essential licence? Sound like you are missing something is conf meet me doesnt work.

Conference meet-me refers to features that allow a user or caller to join a specific conference by using the conference's ID number (either pre-set in the control or entered at the time of joining the conference).
• Pre-IP Office 5.0: This function is not supported on IP500 systems without an IP500 Upgrade Standard to Professional license.
• IP Office 6.0+: IP500 and IP500 V2 systems require a Preferred Edition license.
• ! Note: Conference Meet Me features can create conferences that include only one or two parties. These are still conferences using resources from the system's conference capacity.

Conference ID Numbers

By default, ad hoc conferences are assigned numbers starting from 100 for the first conference in progress. Therefore, for conference Meet Me features specify a number away from this range ensure that the conference joined is not an ad hoc conference started by other users. For Release 8.0 it is no longer possible to join a conference using conference Meet Me features when the conference ID is in use by an ad-hoc conference.
• User Personal Conference Number
For Release 8.0+, each user's own extension number is treated as their own personal conference number. Only that user is able to start a conference using that number as the conference ID. Any one else attempting to start a conference with that number will find themselves in a conference but on hold until the owner also joins. Personal conferences are always hosted on the owner's system. Note, when a user calls from their mobile twinned number, the personal conference feature will only work if they access the conference using an FNE 18 service.

Small Community Network Conferencing

For IP Office Release 8.0+, Meet Me conference IDs are now shared across a Small Community Network. For example, if a conference with the ID 500 is started on one system, anyone else joining conference 500 on any system will join the same conference. Each conference still uses the conference resources of the system on which it was started and is limited by the available conference capacity of that system.

Previously separate conferences, each with the same conference ID, could be started on each system in a Small Community Network.

Other Features
• IP Office 4.1+: A currently connected caller can be transferred into the conference by pressing TRANSFER, then the Conference Meet Me button and TRANSFER again to complete the transfer. This allows the user to place callers into the conference specified by the button without being part of the conference call themselves. This option is only support on Avaya phones with a fixed TRANSFER button (excluding T3 and T3 IP phones).
• IP Office 4.1+: When the conference is active, any buttons associated with the conference ID indicate that active state.

Short Codes

The Conference Meet Me short code action is used to create short codes for Meet Me conferencing. There are no default short codes in a new system for this type of function. It can also be used to transfer caller's into a Meet Me conference.

Example 1: Specific Meet Me Conference Short Code
The following example system short code allows the dialing user to join a specific conference, in this meet-me conference 500.
• Short Code: *500
• Telephone Number: 500
• Feature: Conference Meet Me

Example 2: General Meet Me Conference Short Code
The following example system short code allows any extension to dial *67* and then the number of the conference which they want to join followed by #. For example dialing *67*600# will put the user into meet-me conference 600.
• Short Code: *67*N#
• Telephone Number: N
• Feature: Conference Meet Me

Programmable Buttons

The Conference Meet Me action can be assigned to a programmable button on phones that support programmable buttons. The button can then be used to join a specified Meet Me conference. It can also be used to transfer caller's into a meet-me conference.

For buttons configured with a specific conference ID, the button will indicate whether a conference is in progress or not. For a button configured to a user's personal conference number, the button will indicate when other people are in the conference and when the owner is also in the conference.

we have both the essential license as well as the preferred one. My query is can a single number (*98 for eg.) generate simultaneous calls to 4 different people.?

You should use a number.
Every conference bridge needs a number.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I dont think he is asking for a meet me confrence, though that is what should be used.

Sounds like he is asking for a when a number is dialed, all 4 phones ring at the same time and when picked up briged together, dont think that is a feature

I think "priority call" to a group does this....[ponder]

Indeed that is where the priority call is for.

@NewNic

You are right,. This is what exactly i need. It is not the priority call.

@Jackie1983, yes you do want "priority call" that is what it does hence why I suggested it :)

The priority call will conference the group call all together.
So build a group and make the short code.the number is the group.

I believe Mr Riddle deserves a * for that.

So I gave him one (so to speak)

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Thanks very much for all your info. I convinced the client to do the conferencing instead.

Lol, so giving you exactly what they wanted wasn't good enough, you convinced them to do it another way. As long as they're happy :)

@amriddle01

dude, dont take it in the wrong way. I did priority calling setup but the IT admin there was not satisfied with it. Actually that guy was unaware of the conference call setup with in extensions in Avaya IPO500. That made things easy. When i said that conferencing was possible, he became happy. But that does not mean you guys helping has gone in vain. Priority call setup was really a new info for me. thank you.
