Im trying to reach a VM server, the address is 10.171.2.51. Im pinging from switch 10.169.1.2 g1/0/3
to switch 10.169.1.11 g0/17 and then that goes to a VM server that is configured 10.171.2.51 gw 10.171.2.1
It will ping successfull twice then die, what do I have setup wrong???

10.171.2.1 IS IN VLAN 54...THAT IS SETUP ON BOTH SWITCHES.

What happens when you
A)ping from the switch the vm server is connected to
B)Do an extended ping from DR-MDF-Stack1
C)Post a sh int vlan54

Burt

I get the same response when I ping from the switch, it pings successfully twice then dies?

What are the access ports? Do you have only one interface configured in a port-channel, and you're trunking vlans with a port-channel???

Burt

This is the port on the switch that connects to the server
DR-3020-Bay2#
interface GigabitEthernet0/2
description DR-ESX2 vmnic3
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 99
switchport mode trunk
speed 1000
spanning-tree portfast

The port channel on the switch
DR-3020-Bay2#
interface Port-channel1
description Channel to DR-MDF-Stack1
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 99
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,2,54,55,99,171
switchport mode trunk

the int on the switch that connects to the MDF
DR-3020-Bay2#
interface GigabitEthernet0/17
description Channel to DR-MDF-Stack1
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 99
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,2,54,55,99,171
switchport mode trunk
channel-group 1 mode desirable

------------------------------------------------------------

DR-MDF-Stack1#
interface Port-channel1
description Channel to DR-3050-Bay1
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 99
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,2,4,54,55,99,171
switchport mode trunk
!
interface Port-channel2
description Channel to DR-3050-Bay2
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 99
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,2,4,54,55,99,171
switchport mode trunk

The int on MDF that is configured for the switch
DR-MDF-Stack1#
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/3
description Cross to DR-3050-Bay2
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 99
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,2,4,54,55,99,171
switchport mode trunk
channel-group 1 mode desirable

Let me know what Im missing??

You can't connect a trunk port to anything except another trunk port. It must be an access port.
