Hi,

One of the computers I'm in charge of shows the above mentioned screen when booting Win95b.
It seems to be DMI explorer version 1.11. Once you have closed the screen , the PC seems to work fine.
I did not find ( not in registry and not in StartProgs) where it is started.

I would appreciate any information about this, especially how to unload it.

Thanks,
Jeannot

Jeannot,
If you can't find the entry in the startup folder or in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENT VERSION\RUN
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENT VERSION\RUN SERVICES

try looking in the [boot] section of SYSTEM.INI and the run= load= lines of the WIN.INI

Hope it helps.

Hi,
thanks for the advice, but I'm still not advanced.
I used a Start manager ( StartEd 4.02 ) to display all started programs, and then disabled them all, which did not change anything.
I verified all ini files ....
One of the problems is, that I don't know exactly what to search for. All I see at startup is this screen telling me that Intel Dmi xplorer started, but how do I find out what's the name of this program ( an EXE , or a loaded DLL ... ).
Is it loaded by Win95 itself due to a problem encountered ?

So, I would appreciate any Information about this Intel Dmi Explorer.

Thanks for your help
Jeannot

Jeannot,

Do a search for dmi or dpmi and you should find something.

I'll guess this is an older PC. You might want to access the BIOS on startup and see if there's anything related to dmi.

Have you checked for a program folder off the Start menu?

Hi all,

I finally solved the problem.
First, I used PROCESS EXPLORER found on SYSINTERNALS.COM, which shows exactly what processes are loaded , and found that the program is called COMPLETE.EXE.
I then made a search for this in all files ( BAT , INI ... ), and found in SYSTEM.INI under [BOOT] the line
shell=explorer.exe complete.exe.
After commenting out this line, the Intel Dmi Explorer is no longer loaded.

Hope this can help somebody.
