Installing T1 link for Shortel 1

I am trying to install a t1 card 720C. I did get some documentation on programing the card from shoretel.
I just have a few questions if anyone can help. I have an open net shelf in net 2 that I would like to populate.
I know it is slot specific and that is my problem. I have slots 6-14 open on Net 2 shelf 1. I believe the tie would be 80 something.
Do I need to have the enet card installed also. Can I put both in the same shelf.
I have worked with t1 cards already installed just never set one up on my own.
I did get some information from previous posts also. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, that quote was from my post..... When you progam and new DCH, cable it out and use enl dch x fdl. You wont have to dis and enl the msdl for that

Ok, good. On the dch messages questionI did a dis msgi 13(dch#)in ld 96 to get rid of the dch messages.
I was reading some info and you can do qsig and ni-2 with an option 11 to shore gear - I would think it would be the same.

There just wasn't any new info on starting at cequ step by step. Has all the rest. There was another doc that looked like that they did it pri and used esf no b8s fdl 00. Wouldn't it just be nice to see a print to make sure?

Thanks again.

okay.... NI2 is a protocol from the Telco, and it's way different than PRI2 or E-1 as stated above, PRI2 would only be used in foreign countries! Also, NI-2 is B8ZS/ESF, usually!

The only other difference I saw on the doc is they use tmdi and I am going to use msdl -
They use ISGF - I have also seen ISIG - I have packages
QSIG (263, 305, 316) or NI-2 (291, 385).
Should I use one or the other?

Ok, TMDI is ONLY for an Opt 11, so you either have to use the MSDL for the DCH or a DCH daughterboard, use the MSDL!

ISGF is programming for QSIG, is that what you are implementing or just a T-1 tie to the Shortel??

Can't Shortel tell you what you need in this setup??

Did a little more diggin and found in some docs that with tmdi - it said isgf and with the msdl they had it to isig.
The other thing that I see is on dgtp they put pri on tmdi and pri2 on msdl. Same way when they program the channels. Is that setting specific to the type of t1 card you use? I am using a 720c.

in the US, use PRI and that is NOT specific to the type of card. a 720 will do the same as the dual pri card....

So pri2 means dual pri card?
Well shoretel will be here monday with the demo system for 30 days. I will post the results.

Thanks for the correspondence. It's been awesome.

NO PRI2 does not mean dual pri card. A dual DTI card in the Nortel world is a circuit card that provide's 2 PRI's using one network card slot. You need to find out what type of card or interface is in the Shortel in order to program your end . also unless
using a CSU, you'll need a T-1 Crossover cable to make the connection between the two systems. Perhaps the Shortel Rep
can assist you on setup.

I have a clock in core0 and core1 each is already set up for dch0 and backup dch0.
Where does the clock come from for this t1. Does it pull from the system already by a setting - external or does it have to come from the shoretel side - anyone?

Everything went well. The Enet card went into my slot 86 the 720c card went into 13-14.
I had one cable to connect enet and t1. I had another to my msdl card 15 port 1 on net 0. Another cable went from the t1 card which I needed a db15 to rj45 to connect to the shoretel t1 box.
I used loop 86 route 53 dch 13 - qsig, pri. The above info that people passed on was great. I will post my final configs.
The only hiccup I had was that I didn't understand what the pni number was. I copied off the sheets I had. The pni is equal to your customer number. Mine is 0. Once that was changed they linked.
Then I created steering codes. You first go to 86 and creat your rli and then 87 to create the dsc. You can print out your rlb in 86 to see what is available.
The other thing I had to remember was we are multi-tennant so I had to allow acces to my new route 53. This is done in ld 93 allow access all.

Here are the configs:
This configuration is for an 81C with a Enet card and a 720C connecting MSDL with Qsig

7. Create Steering Code
Once you take you extensions out of the Nortel System you need to creat a Steering code to point the number to your
Route (mine was 54)

You first need to do a print of your RLI's to see what is open.

REQ prt
CUST 0
FEAT RLB
RLI (Enter to print all)

Choose an open one. They should print in order and choose a number after the last.
This is what mine looked like:

RLI 30
ENTR 0
LTER NO
ROUT 99
TOD 0 ON 1 ON 2 ON 3 ON
4 ON 5 ON 6 ON 7 ON
VNS NO
SCNV NO
CNV NO
EXP NO
FRL 0
DMI 0
ISDM 0
FCI 0
FSNI 0
SBOC NRR
IDBB DBD
IOHQ NO
OHQ NO
CBQ NO

So I chose 31

Create RLI in 86

REQ new
CUST 0
FEAT RLB
RLI 31
ENTR 0
LTER
ROUT (This is the tie route - mine was 54)
Enter through rest

8. Creat your DSC in LD 87 ( This step you will have to repeat for each extension you want to point)

REQ NEW
CUST 0
FEAT CDP
TYPE DSC
DSC (Extension #)
DSC LSC
Enter through rest

9. If you have multi-tenant you will have to allow access to route
LD 93
REQ CHG
TYPE RACC
CUST 0
ROUT 53
AACC ALOW
ALOW ALL
Enter through rest

If you miss this step you will get fast busy when you dial across from Nortel side.

Hope this helps - Read the responses above and then follow this setup and you should be fine. Your red lights go out once the t1 is connected to the shoregear equipment. At this point I am unable to pass clid info back and forth - I don't know that this will be possible since it thinks the calls between the two are outside calls.
You can also try to contact me throught the site if you have questions.

One last follow up - you can use NI2 - it appears to work but does not - drops calls after 1 ring. Confirmed with another person who had also created a link between the nortel 81 and shoretel. Not sure if that means all nortel.
Also when the shoretel people clicked an clid check box in their config the system dropped calls after one ring.
